2007 Ninja 250 Brake Rotor Bolts

Does anyone know the correct bit size for the brake rotor bolts? Seems like its 8mm hex but I want to be 100 % sure before I screw one up. I want to paint my rims so I want to take off the rotors. I have an impact driver to do the job. Should I apply some heat before hand? Ive heard these bolts have red loctite on them ...

Thanks !

Impact may strip bolts with too much speed. You want to use 6mm allen-key socket with 18" breaker-bar with slow & steady pressure. Use one hand to keep allen-key pressed into bolt. Make sure breaker-bar is 90-degrees to bolt axis while you apply pressure.

Pick up allen-key socket set from HF, you'll find other sizes useful too.

Might work, don't really need that much impact force really. It's not corroded on or anything. You'll find red Loctite will give great resistance entire way. Will take long time 1/16th turn at a time.

Just gonna use impact driver to break them loose then use your method to remove them. When reinstalling the bolts is it necessary to use the red loctite ?

nah, there's enough Loctite remaining that it'll still grip pretty good. Be sure to use torque-wrench. It'll seriously feel like you're gonna snap that bolt before getting to proper torque.

Sometimes heat is necessary to get the Loctite to soften, and it always makes the job easier. I've never had to go above the temperature that makes spit on the end of my finger go "psss".
