3D printing

I've almost finished building a 3D printer, anybody else built one? My first actual for use part I plan on building are a pair of mirror extenders

Wondering if anybody has made one or made anything for a bike with one, my next step is for a cnc milling machine, so hopefully i'll be able to make some decent parts in the future! I'm thinking brake discs!

I'm building a RepRap Prusa, I will probably make a DLP one after that. If anybody does want parts, i'll only charge materials + shipping once i'm set up!

easier and safer to buy a ready made gun.. of course you live in state that bans everything

and as far as 3d printing guns its looking like the state department is going to shut that down via ITAR

Why anybody would want to own a handgun is beyond me, short of playing a few rounds of clay pigeon on my family's shotguns we have no need for guns here.

I can't wait for the 3D printed gun sillyness to go away.

there will always be ways for people to do harm to others. i have fists don't i? wrapping people in bubble wrap isn't the problem to be solved. understanding why someone would want to hurt or kill someone else is the problem that needs to be solved. understanding the problems in society that lead to violence or mental health issues, and why those problems turn into a mass shooting or bombing. you can't just bandaid issues. you have to fix the cause of the issue. its like the 'war on drugs'. such a blind way to lead a country.

Comparing a weapon to a way of transportation. Good argument,

come at me bro!

have you ever been stabbed? or had part of you cut off? trust me, it's really painful. i think i would personally rather deal with somebody with a gun. guns miss. there's only so many bullets. and a bullet hole seems like a lot less to deal with than a stab hole. stab holes suck.

not as deadly as a gun?

how can you say that?

both can easily kill. how do you determine which is more lethal? a knife could potentially kill more people.

i don't think that's actually true.

do you have much experience running from bullets? much experience being fired at from a distance? any experience with someone sneaking up behind you with a knife? if you think about it, knife injuries are much more common. knives are everywhere. they give you a plastic knife in your happy meal. plastic knives that are completely undetectable by modern security scanners. plastic knives that have lethal ability that anyone could print out and produce without license or regulation. think about the chaos that kind of society would produce! having weapons laying around in every home, every kitchen. everybody needs to switch to chopsticks.

How many presidents have been assassinated with chopsticks or anything other than a gun. Convince the army that a knife is as efficient a killing weapon as a gun, you will not convince me.

Thats a bold statement. And pretty inaccurate. What are you qualifications for being "as deadly" Can you kill someone with a knife as fast as a gun? sure. As effectively? sure. and damn straight its quieter.

youre over generalizing and its not helping your argument.

So why have guns been used to assassinate presidents? Distance. However with todays compound bows you could probably make some of these shots. Close quarters a knife will beat a gun though. Dont believe me? Look it up. Mythbusters did a special on it.

can guns kill faster than a knife? Usually, but it depends whos using it, and what they are going up against. Is that person armed with something, is there a chance of failing? etc. Im sure Alex and I can poke holes in your silly stereotypical arguments all day. As well as playing devils advocate with each other, but you will probably shrug it off and continue to think the way you want... whatevs.

guns and weapons in general are only as dangerous as their users...

U.S. Army units have not issued soldiers bayonets for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, said Matt Larsen, the former director of the Army’s combatives program.

“The reason they don’t is because the training had nothing to do with the realities of the battlefield,” Larsen told The Rumor Doctor.

Worse yet, soldiers were bringing their own knives to the combat zone, and that proved to be dangerous they didn’t know how to fight with knives, Larsen said. Mostly, he said, soldiers used the knives as tools.
