What would you pay for this?
Looking for first bike and found this at local dealer. The custom paint isn't my thing, but I could live with it for as long as I'm likely to need the bike. No way I'm paying what they're asking, but not sure what's fair.

I'd pay about half what they're asking for it.

I'd pay a fifth what they're asking for it
It's clearly been down and repaired, the stock tires are murder weapons aimed at the rider, and you can get an 08-12 for under 2,000 on craigslist as it is though I will admit, that is a sweet exhaust

Not in my neck of the woods! Think 2500-3000. It sucks over here.

The cheapest running 250 I found on my local CL right now is a 2007 for 2200. This particular one looks to be in great condition, but its not uncommon to see a much worse bike priced for about the same.

That price is way too high, especially with that paint job.
Prices here are double that...

You folks are pretty harsh.
Hard to tell for sure, but that does look like a pro repaint done because someone thought it would look cool, not your typical post-crash rattle can job. I think this bike was meant as a showpiece, not something that gets ridden regularly. I see no reasonable evidence of the bike having gone down or being abused. Telltale stuff like peg feelers and case covers are intact. The left peg feeler even has the rubber condom still on it. Except for typical wear on the wheels, the bike looks exceptionally clean. Actually, now that I think about it, the wheels seem out of place. Wonder if it originally had chrome wheels and they got sold separately... that'd match the show-bike aesthetic. Based on what I see ($$$ spent on paint, in-da-hood cosmetic farkles like spike bar ends and bling turn signals), $$$ spent on exhaust... but horrible OEM tires) I'd profile the previous owner as someone who thinks of a "ride" as going to bike night. Even money it also has LEDs somewhere. Better than even money that they've upgraded to stretched and lowered R6 or GSX-R. 3:1 that the helmet has been painted to match the bike. 5:1 that the rider wears shorty gloves, ICON armor over a T-shirt but no jacket, baggy jeans and sneakers. I'd pass but not on the premise that the bike has been abused. I'd pass because it's fugly and the owner spends money on appearance but not real maintenance. Around there, it'd sell for about 1500, 1700 at the outside. The only Ninjettes I've ever seen for less than 1500 have real (and I mean REAL) issues.

KBB dealer retail for a 2007 250 is about $2,000.
I wouldn't pay retail for it with that ugly paint job. I'd offer $1,500 and then hit the body panels with some plastidip. |

I would say max about 1/2 their price as well.
The paint job, though not rattle can, is about 5 different colors. The tires look to be original. I'm sure there's more issues if you looked closely. |

$1,500 max. It probably isn't a look many people want so that should drive their price down. I don't think many pregens are selling for over $2,000 for mint unmolested ones.

Doesn't cost that much to get it all painted. Just have to either know the right people or know someone who would be happy to use your bike to sharpen their skills at a discount.

A quick craigslist search is showing a few pregens and a number of newgens for less that look in better condition (haven't read through all the descriptions) if you're willing to expand your search a bit.

I don't mind the color but it's expensive. I got a 2006, around the same mileage, with some very minor fairing damage, for $1700. I wouldn't pay several hundred bucks for perfect fairings and one year newer.

I'd rock that paint job. I'm not big on trends, but I'm under the impression that skinny jeans have generally replaced their baggy counterparts.
More on point, my 2013 Ninja 300 was only $3k with 2k miles - from a dealer. Paying only $500 less for a 2007 doesn't seem wise. If you're at that point, you might as well save a few more bennies and get the current generation.
