Vandalism???
So I am almost positive some little **** head keeps vandalizing my bike when I leave it uncovered! I live in a condo community with a parking lot much like an apartment complex parking lot. A month ago I came back from a ride and took a nap. A few hours later I went outside to cover it up before it got dark and there was what looked like little berries smashed EVERYWHERE on the bike. I looked on the ground and nothing was on the ground so i ruled out birds. I cleaned it up the next day. However, a few days ago I came home from a ride and started making dinner, my dog started going nuts and I went to go see what it was. These 2 kids in diapers were trying to stuff their sandwich down my exhaust!! When I yelled at them, they ran to a woman who was outside watching them do it!! like did she tell them to do it? Yesterday when I went to go put the cover on after i wanted to let the exhaust cool off a bit first, the mirror were pushed all the way in towards where I would have been sitting. Like WTF!!!!!!!! does anyone else have this problem!?!?!? suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

This:
Cover it up before leaving it alone, you can place the cover over everything but the exhaust. Let it hang on the passenger peg, then come back and cover the exhaust after it is done cooling down.

Welcome to the world of community parking. Not much you can do other than to set up a camera with motion detection out your window, if you can see your machine. Once you have it on video, take it to the head of the condo association, if you have one.
Otherwise, put the cover on ASAP. Might even want to get a motion sensitive alarm for it so people get the hint to leave it alone.

Interesting ... Since its young children , you can't get super-evil with a deterrent system.
Id go after the adults/parents. Inform them you are aware and how it's dangerous to let their kids play around the bike. Also the expensive part of damaging a bike like that by letting thier kids touch it or play around it.

That would really tic me off!
As others have noted, a camera would be a good thing to have to prove what is going on. Is there another location you can park? Some sort of remote screech alarm might be fun to use to scare the **** out of them. If you can catch them in the act I would confront the "parent". I would not hesitate to contact law enforcement if you can get something on video. The little "perps" and the "parent" need to learn that it's not ok to mess with someone's belongings - and there are consequences. Last futzed with by jkv45; May 18th, 2016 at 06:35 AM. |

Get a Xena disc lock alarm. Some people swear by them, others say they're garbage. I think they're fine as long as you keep them dry and clean the sensor once in a while.

I'm always scared of someone pouring dirt, sand, or God knows what down the oil cap. I know tamper resistant caps requiring an oddball 7mm allen wrench are available for other models. Does anyone know who manufactures these and if they're made for our bikes?

Do you live on ground level? I've known quite a few people that lived in apartments that resorted to parking it in the living room/spare bedroom. It's what I'm going to do. I'm not saving all this cash to have some a**hat vandalize or take my new baby.

You can get a cheap game camera, and then you'll have photo evidence too, unless they take or break the camera too.
