Even in a Honda ad, Steve McQueen is cooler than you

Absolutely.

To me, Steve and Paul were probably the two coolest human beings ever.

those early 70's elsinores were cool. the 125 and the 250 were the first serious japanese mx'ers. i had the '74 elsinore mr50 (cut me some slack as i was 10, lol). gas was about 50 cents, mixed it with 2 stroke oil, and rode all day with my friends. those were the days. used to bomb past my 4 stroke buddies on their Z50 and Trail 70's.

Very cool video of my hero Steve. Might be one of the most expensive MC adds...lets's see, major movie star, gyro stabalized cameras by chase vehicles. Helicopter for aerial sceens, great photography with professional cameras, story board, production experts...In any case it was well done. Never seen it until now. Thanks, Bill

first gen Elsinores ... fast as lightning and light as a feather. For top end HP, they were hard to beat. I was all set to buy one, but they only came with downpipes which would get murdered on the trails.

I went with the first year of the Yamaha 250YZ monoshock, instead.

yep, McQueen and Newman were both legends in their own time.

awesome ride Kelly! IIRC the shock was mounted horizontally below the seat/tank on those first monoshockers. I remember later in '77 when yam dominated US mx with Hannah, Glover, Bell, Burgett.

Friend's dad (an east coast tight woods rider) raced on a team in the Baja 60+ year class a couple years ago on a KTM, and won. Said the scariest thing racing the Baja is having a truck close in on you from behind, move or get run over.

Who the hell is Steve McQueen? You can see riders like this on any sunday. It's no big deal.

Isn't Paul Newman some cowboy that used to sell salad dressing?

Oh yeah, the Yamaha Monoshock..... first big bump at high speed was okay, but the second or third in rapid succession could deliver the dreaded "mono-hop."
