Going to San Francisco for a couple of days. Without my Ninja

What is there to do besides Golden State Bridge? I'm only there for 1 day.
Any recommendations from the locals?

Thanks!

Chinatown, yo.

If you have wheels then drive down Hwy 1 through Half Moon Bay, awesome views if you time it right for sunrise/sunset.
Golden Gate + drive all the way down Conzelman Rd and hit up Rodeo.

In general the west coast of North Bay all the way up to Point Reyes is really scenic.

This is the greatest site and guide of what you can do in SF. Hitting the touristy places are actually fun. The locals are a bit jaded, c'mon when is the last time you did the cable car tour? Check out Coit tower, check out the bars and weird shops in the Castro, there are super good hole in the wall restaurants in the mission district. Go to the academy of sciences and check out the oldest and most depressing albino alligator ever lol. Go to Ocean beach on Friday night and watch 60 squids drag race parallel to the beach. Barf ride for you locals... Or take obscene photos in the exploratorium and laugh maniacally when the school groups go into the "shadow capture room." There really isn't enough time to do much though so choose wisely.

Visit the SF Bay model in Sausolito, near the ferry. It was featured in the Mythbusters Escape from Alcatraz episode and it's AMAZING.

Point Reyes (Marin County, other side of the Golden Gate) is beautiful. Lovely drive, spectacular scenery.

Visit Muir Woods and make sure you allow enough time to hike some of the trails. Most of the overweight tourists stay close to the visitor center. Get beyond them, out into the woods, and prepare to be blown away by the redwoods.

Take a drive along the coast.

Ride one of the ferries.

Visit the Exploratorium. Coolest science museum I've ever seen.

Find Kari Byron and set up a date for me.

I'd walk up Embarcadero, visit the new Exploration (coolest museum ever), then Coit Tower, then back on the Embarcadero to the Pier/Fisherman's, making my way to the GGB, walking across it to Sausalito and taking a ferry back. Lots of walking, but what better way to sightsee than by feet.

That's awesome. Haven't been to the new one yet. Really want to get out there. I was thinking the next night life but it's gonna be packed on the 4th. Are you a city employee?

No, the Exploratorium is a non-profit. We're not city employees.

San Fransisco

Hey guys, since a lot of you are bay area guys, I was wondering if I could get some advice?

I will be in San Francisco, fishermans wharf area for a week or so, what should I do while i'm in town? The Rock is a must for me, other than that I havn't a clue, lombard street looks like a lame twisty roads and the trams are of little interest to me, redwoods seem like they'd be fun to see but I couldn't imagine more than a quick drive through.

So, any "must see" locations?

A week is a good amount of time. Downtown SF is fun, but getting out to Marin/Napa/Sonoma for wine tasting or some decent restaurants can also be fun.

Ha, I have no problems with vagina decliners.

But I would rather not waltz about the massivly gay areas.

I think i'll probably just do the crappy bus tour thing, alcatraz and the big trees.

I am mainly looking forward to Hawaii, I may even cut SF down a but to bump up Hawaii, I am then in Santa Monica for a week, but I have done pretty much everything in LA a gajillion times,

Day One:

Take a walk down from the doubletree to the pier, grab dinner at Bubba Gumps and refuse to answer their annoying trivia because I hate that film but like their burgers and cocktails with the free glasses, after getting pissed on four or seven corona margeritas, I take a walk down venice beach and hang around a bit to see if I can see shaycarl or kassamg, get bored, avoid the homeless and the weirdos and walk back to the hotel past an official looking building that I always regret because I wanted to get some new jeans from sears so should have gone back the other way. Contemplate if I should have asked someone how to get weed, but think it's best not to risk my future entry into the country by smoking weed. - side note, how do kush doctors work?

Day Two:

Get driven go to the city, recognise a few street names from Rancid songs, walk down a long street with lots of hispanic people with loads of **** stuff for sale, buy socks.

Go to La Brea tar pits and spend two hours waiting for a bubble to pop up from a tar puddle.

China town, get bored, remember the time their was a cool swap meet and I got some cool screen printed t-shirts some kids were selling.

Day Three:

Get excited about going to Hollywood, on arival remember how **** hollywood is, so go to The Griffith Observatory because it's the only place in LA I actually love.

Day Four:

Visit family, get the updates on which cousin is in the same rehab celebrity x is in and which one is going to the best colege ever because they are going to be a lawyer.

Day Five:

Buy all the Levi 501's from Sears if they're less than $35 because they cost over $100 here, although I prefer Wranglers as they are more comfortable to ride in, but 501's give you mad Jeans status here. - if anybody knows a cheaper place to get Levi 501's from in the deep indigo, none of that stone acid wash nonsense, let me know.

Go to the farmers market and get some Korean BBQ, laugh at the badges in the americana shop that say "I love Dick" refering to Nixon I assume, buy an iPhone from the sickiningly nice people at the Apple Store.

Extra Days:

Repeat the above.

Sad really?

I am looking forward to Hawaii though.

From a tourists point of view, I just got back from a trip there a couple months ago. I stayed for 4 nights and pretty much just stayed near Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 most of the time. You WON'T get bored. The locals are really nice too. I got waved at by a lot of fellow bikers there haha. Also, make sure you take a touring bus there. It is well worth the money and we used it for a source of transportation mostly. Just make sure you get a touring bus that is large because the small ones fill up very fast.

Oh, and also make sure you set aside a day for a trip to Salsalito (on the other side of the bridge). It's an amazing town with lots or touristy attractions, along with a really good burger house. Hope this helps!
