The quest for the perfect sportscam!

Hello everybody!

(I'm not sure if I have to put this thread in Video or if here is just fine )

I've been looking for a nice sportscam, not too expensive but still good image quality... It's just to have fun with, no vlogging or stuff. Just filming while ridin' around, or on vacation (since we are planning to go to spain with the bikes this summer). Not going for GoPro since it's way too expensive (for me) if I buy all the mounts and accessoires I'd like.

Now this came across my path... http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...-action-camera The "Drift HD" camera (I'm from Belgium so no need to order from revzilla). Looked up some videos on youtube, quality seems fine, and it's affordable for me!

I'm looking for some opinions about the camera.

Tech Specs
• Sensor type: CMOS
• Water Resistant (ah well, not underwater, but it can handle some rain)
• Video resolution: 1080p, 720p & WVGA
• Video format: H.264
• File format: .MOV
• 25 / 30 / 50 / 60fps in 720p or 25 / 30fps in 1080p
• Video format: 16:9
• Lens Rotation: 300°
• Recording Angles: 170° in 1080p, 720p & WVGA
• White balance: Auto
• Exposure: Auto / Manual (advanced users)
• Zoom: Digital x4 (in 720p/30/60fps & WVGA mode)
• Remote range: 5m range
• Built-in Microphone
• Inputs: Optional External Microphone
• AV Output: HDTV out (cable included)
• Battery: 1110mAh rechargeable lithium-ion
• Power-Save option saves batteries by powering down the screen
• microSD memory capacity: Supports memory cards up to 32 GB
• Photo resolution: 9 Megapixel
• LCD screen: 1.5″ colour TFT
• Lens focal range: 0.5m to infinity
• Dimensions: Camera – 4.1 inches or 104.14 mm (L) x 50 (D) x 33 (W) mm / Remote Control 52 (L) x 40 (W) x 13 (D) mm
• Power: Camera – DC 3.7V / Remote control: DC 3C, 1x CR2032 battery (included)
• RF: Receiver (Camera): 433.92MHz ISM band / Transmitter (Remote): 433.92MHz ISM band
• Weight: Camera - 4.23 oz. or 119.91g / Remote control – 19g
• Operating Systems: Compatible with Windows 7, XP & Vista; Mac OS 10.2
Contents of Box
• HD Action Camera
• Remote Control
• Spare rear cover
• Goggle Mount
• Curved and Flat adhesive mounts
• Universal Clip
• Velcro Strap
• Lithium Battery
• USB Cable
• Quick Guide to get started

I planned on getting this too, since it's not in the box but very usefull on a bike:
http://www.v-nix.nl/fat-gecko-mini-camera-mount

TOTAL PRICE (includes shipping, the extra mount and memory card): €260 what should be 347.19 USD (if my coverter is correct).

Worth it or not?

My alternative is the AEE Magicam CD21 Motorsports edition that is slightly more expensive than this Drift HD...

Thanks in advance for your opinion!

Dude, just get a used GoPro Hero 2 for like $200 on ebay, then buy all the accessories you want. You'll still end up spending less than $350

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not a big fan of buying technology and camera-stuff second hand though... You don't know what happened, you don't know if it has been dropped etc. That's why i'm looking for a new one

...GoPro's are meant to be dropped. That's why they have the massive acrylic case.
