Need advice on older textile jacket.
Ive been riding for the last half year and got most my gear together.
For now ive been using a jacket i found in my buddys basement. He said its about 5 years old and that if i want to buy it he will let it go cheap. It fits me really well so im very tempted. However its 5 years old, does this matter? Has textile technology advanced? Does it have expiration date? Hope these questions arent obvious. Im a college student so tight budget, however i dont want to risk safety either. Looking for some advice |

Does it have pads? Even if it doesn't, for the right price it might still be a good buy. I've found textile jackets (at least the one I use) hold up remarkably better than what others say. I got mine for $40, complete with shoulder and back pads. Hope this helps!

Well i know it has hard plastic type pads for the elbows and sholders. However i have no ideas if its CE aproved. Anyway to tell?
An the rear protector comes out, its a lousy piece of foam. If i purchase this ill invest in a CE approved solid protector that i hope will plug an play. |

The CE armor pads are pretty much universal. Just compare the current ones shape to the ones you will be replacing it with to make sure it will fit.

Boy do i feel stupid right. Just realized the pads come out of the jacket. The elbow and sholder are CE aproved. Other markings i found, not sure if they stand for anything.

Buy it. Don't pay more than $50 (75 tops) for it.
You can get closeout deals on decent textile jackets all day long from the usual web sources (revzilla, motorcyclegear.com, motorcycle superstore….). Generally around $100. So paying more than 3/4 that for a used jacket is a waste. Do some homework ahead of time and see what the current closeouts are going for. |
