Any ideas?

Hello and thanks for the great forum, spent quite a few hours here as of late. Long story short, my wife's ninja, 1000 miles , was running badly so I followed advice here including carb cleaning, plug changes, etc. Got it to where it would run for about a minute and then wouldn't start, felt as if running only on right cylinder. This was after pulling carb 4 times for cleaning. So tonight as a last chance I went to garage and tried to start it. Much to my surprise and enjoyment the bastard just started right up with as lil throttle and is running perfect now, after a two month ordeal lol. So before I pack up and and ride into the sunset with no explanation, I happened to see this guy laying in the floor where it had not been earlier. ( see attached) . Anyone recognize it and would it have anything to do with my starting woes or just a weird coincidence?

Welcome Dean!

Hmmm, not recognizing that part right now. Maybe someone else will. Glad you got the wife's bike going. Happy wife, happy life!

@Sdk14 that's easy ! it's a coolant resrvoir sealing cap bottom !! necessary if you want the circuit to be airtight and if it is not you will have a cylinder block warped in no time, long before even reading show high temp levels beacause all the air remains down there...
it's easy to put it back even if you have put fairings on...
