Make sure you tighten your bolts!!!!
Well folks, I'm somewhat mad at myself. Long story short, I was going to take my sister somewhere on the back of the bike, and she found out for me that something was missing. The bolt that holds on my left passenger peg, and holds up my left exhaust pipe apparently fell out. My peg is completely gone, as is the small bracket that holds it and lets it fold in/out. I immediately got in my parent's car and bought some new bolts (just replaced both sides temporarily until I get the AP exhaust and some new rear pegs ). My bike is fully intact now and I'm going to double-check all the rest of my bolts tomorrow after I change the oil. I also retraced my ride of that day to see if I could at least find the peg. No luck. Just thought I'd share that and make sure you all remember to tighten all your bolts.

dont want that sorta thing happening oh...like in the middle of a CORNER or sumptin. i've gotten into the habit of recheck'in hardware after some miles to make sure stuff's still there.

Ive lost 2 axel bolt covers (I dont like the design, they pop in too easy and therefore pop out too easy) Also lost a bolt that holds on my Zartan exhaust hanger.
Everyone go outside and tighten everything now(Ill re-tighten the bolts that hold my head to my neck cause I think im losing my mind with all these missing pieces...anyone know what I should torque to? |

Prefix: I know next to nothing about mechanics but I'll ask anyways.
Is there any advantage to putting some bolt/nut holding product like LocTite on everything to remove the need to check so often?

Loctite is a great solution, and for bolts that are supposed to stay put, it's almost always a great idea. Use the blue stuff if it's on a bolt that may have to be removed at some point, but if it's a bolt that won't need to ever come out for the life of the bike, you can consider using the red strength.

I was coming to a stop one day when I first got the bike. No biggie. I popped it into neutral at this LONG light.
Light turns green... I go to pop her in first and commence the take off. good deal. now for second and wait... wtf is this? It's sooooo loose? I pull into the first turn I can safely in first gear and take a look. One of the bolts that hold that assembly on where the left side foot peg is vibrated out and fell out somewhere. I pulled out the toolkit and checked everything out. The other bolt was loose a bit so I took that bolt out, put it into the top hole and tightened the ever loving crap out of it. Then I gave it a once over and nothing else was loose. Just my story. That tool kit saved my tail.

Great advice.
Now, if someone will post a safety wire article, that would be great. I want to safety wire my oil plugs...
