First drop....in the garage

So yesterday I got home for work and needed to get the rear up to take the wheel off to get it to the shop for a new tire and I wanted it up for my valve check im planning tomorrow as well.

Typically I just ratchet strap the rear to the rafters but I didn't feel like taking the rear plastics off to get to the frame to secure the straps, with the hot bodies undertail it is kind of annoying

So I have some car jack stands.... figured I could get it up on the jack stands, on the pegs So how do I get the bike up on the stands in the first place... Ef it, I'm a strong enough guy, ill just pick the bike up and put it on the stands

Thought it out a little bit, set everything up, felt how heavy it would be to lift the rear up high enough to get the pegs on the stands and it seemed do able.

I knew I wanted to put the peg on the opposite side of the bike on the stand first as once that one was on the weight of the bike would shift and it would make more sense to have that one on first....well that peg was the exhaust side and not much sticks out past exhaust so I did the side I was standing on first in the heat of the moment after I set it on the stand I felt the weight shift and knew I wasn't in position to hold it up, I gently layed the bike over away from me and the other side jack stand caught the bike so it never fully hit the floor and very luckily the towel I put over the stand added some cushion barrier so not to scrape up anything to bad and again luckily the stand caught under the lip of the seat and didnt' really hurt anything, small barely noticeable scuff on the side cover seems to be all.

Set the bike back up and instead of admitting defeat I tried again but stuck with the original plan. Got the opposite side peg on the stand, then was able to put the other stand in place under the peg on side I was standing with my foot while balancing the bike on the other stand victory!

Now I just have to get it back off

Great, that it happened in the garage so you can maintain your aura of invincibility and self respect because absolutely no one will ever know as long as you don't tell anyone

Sucks but doesn't sound like the bike got hurt too bad. Did you still have the lower fairings on?

Yeah, everything was on the bike, I was worried about the jack stand catching the fairing as it went down but like I said it hit the seat lip, No harm no foul, Lesson learned.
