My ninjette was thirsty

4.8 gallon tank my ass; though I did run out of gas and pushed the bike half a mile to a gas station.

You must go less than 100 miles before a fill up then.

well I only do in town riding and just ride until I am almost on empty. I can ride about 1.5 weeks before my next fill up.

Do you guys put regular? Because the previous owner told me she puts 93 so I stick to 93. Here 93 is around $4.20.

How do you guys fill up? when I put the nozzle in and start pumping it stops me after 1 gallon. At that point I know I have 1 more gallon of space and carefully put 1 more gallon. Do you guys use same strategy? I fill up almost every 2 days & 100 miles and its always $8-$9 for me. Once it was close to $12

I use 87, I read on these fourms somewhere that higher octane gas doesn't do much for our bikes. I fill it up once I hit reserve but yesterday I got to work on my reserve tank and went back home during lunch thinking I would make it (Maybe if I wasn't doing 85mph...) but then it started to sputter when I was getting off the highway, I was leaning in a corner in the off-ramp which was kind of scary. Good thing the bike is light when it doesn't have gas in it because that was a bitch to push in 80F.

^ a stock bike will run happily on US grade 87 octane. If you have certain types of performance engine work or a BRT TIS ignition timer and are running more advanced timing a higher grade octane is recommended

I once ran out of gas by Sprain Lake, northeast Yonkers and a Harley rider gave me a lift to a gas station and back to my bike, was really nice of him. He even told me where to get a cheaper gas can, and helped me fill up. The scary part was on a highway at speed, had to switch over 3 lanes when my engine stopped, then I had to push it up the ramp.

If you have a moment, might be worth a call to the bureau of weights & measures in your county. It's possible your tank holds more than 5.1 gallons. It's much more likely that the pump is reading high.

I think you're onto something here, much more likely to be a scamming gas station.

There is a +/- level but I do agree with the fact they might be screwing people over; contacting the bureau of weights & measures ... if I can find out who they are

We're #3 for highest gas prices in the country, #4, #2 and #1 being California, Alaska and Hawaii respectively.

I never ride past E
I look in the tank, see gas, keep riding, but something about the gauge staring at me saying E bothers me.
So I fill it whenever Im between 160-180 miles

I also sit on my bike and level it while Im filling it up

I wish I had a gauge, I have the pregen. Though instead of sitting I can just put it on the center stand

I was thinking the same thing. I have a high comp. engine in a Camaro. it has to run 93. I bought "93" once at a local station and it was detonating so bad I couldn't drive it home. Turns out the owner was having 87 pumped into the 93 tanks. Got his a** in a jam, I did.
