Is Clear Bra supposed to look this bad?

Ok guys, so I picked up my white ST3 about 2 weeks ago. I've never had a car that looks good enough to warrant a clear bra installation until I got this one. As I've had bad experiences with tint and what not in the past, I made sure to go to a 3M Certified installer. The tint came out perfect. The clear bra installation, is leaving much to be desired. I am really unsure if I am just being picky, or if anyone else agrees that the way this stuff was cut looks like complete crap. It seems that they just straight up skipped problem areas by simply not covering them. The lines are jagged and do not match up with the lines of the body work at all. There are bubbles under the part where it should be sealed on the bottom. I took it back to them yesterday to have them get out some of the big bubbles, but it seems that they just rushed it super fast and mangled the car. There are numerous spots that also have razor blade marks into my paint. I know this stuff isn't supposed to be "completely invisible", but this just seems unacceptable.

So much for me having paint worth protecting

I'm really at a loss of what to do. What do you guys think?

Nope that's terribad. I wouldn't even give the shop a chance to make good on it. Go straight to 3m and get them to set things right and reassess that certification.

cuts look they were done with a dull blade. and dont line up with the lines of the car at all. they either stretched the wrong spots or did not apply enough heat.looked look they should have covered it in one piece instead of a bunch of small pieces.

looks terrible... would get my money back for sure...

I have an appointment with them 9am this Wednesday for them to remove the clear bra and process a full refund.

This place shouldn't be certified for ****.

If they scratched your paint I would ask for more than a refund, I would tell them that you expect them to pay for a body shop to fix it all up correctly.

I'll post the shop name after I'm good with how they have treated the removal, refund, and payment for damages.

That is one half assed job. I have it on my 9-7x that was installed by the previous owner and the only way you can tell it's on there is if you're fairly close, and you're only supposed to see a clean outline following the bodywork. Hopefully they work with you, if not get a refund and go elsewhere. I'd also make them pay for paint scratches caused by them but that could be hard to do.

+1 on this. I have a actually worked with these several times. I have trouble believing that this came from 3M. It normally isn't a sheet that needs to be cut to the shape of the car. 3M makes a software that cuts them to the exact model of car. I might go as far as to say that what they used isn't even 3M (it looks much thicker than any that I have ever handled) and if it is it is just generic 3M clear vinyl.

http://www.Shop3M.com/3m-paint-prote...-patterns.html

If they claim to be certified this is the software that they should be using to get the cuts.

Removal went decent. Not as many scratches as I thought, but still a few. I couldn't get them to agree to pay for those, so I am having the new clear bra place do some touch up before they install the new one. Just dropped it off a few hours ago, and it should be ready by tomorrow night.

I'll be sure to post a picture of the new stuff for comparison. Just judging by the staff and shop location alone, this place will blow the other out of the water. They were wrapping a SLS, Panamera GTS, and a Tesla when I arrived there today. Fancy.

The crapjob shop was Windows Tinting Plus in Fremont. Do not go there. Actually, their window tint was great. Clear bra != window tint.

Lol, I got an estimate from Premier, but chose to go with the "#2" place in the area, Elite Auto Films.

Premier is hands down the best in the area, but I can't justify their cost on a vehicle of my price.

That being said, I really didn't see much difference in quality whatsoever for Premier vs Elite. The only difference I saw was on one of the custom bumpers, but as the car was only at Elite, I couldn't really compare a similar car from Premier.

I opted for a custom full hood (hate that half hood line), rear deck lid, door edges and door cups, with pre cut front bumper, headlights, foglights (yellow clear bra), side mirrors and half fenders.

It's odd that upgrading from half fender to full fender is one of the most expensive options. I absolutely had to have the full hood though. We shall see how it comes out

A filing in small claims court should clear that up pretty quickly. They did damage to your vehicle, it's a pretty clear cut and dry case.

I really don't have the time or money to go to small claims court. I don't want any more headache with these people ever again. The place that I brought it for reinstallation did paint repair for me with the paint I brought them from the dealer.

I'll be picking it up in about 30 min

Went in for my follow up today to get a few bubbles removed. They also applied the precut yellow fog film, but it was too small in diameter. It allows for some white light to get around it.

The guy said he wanted it to be perfect, so he's going to custom cut some yellow film on friday and apply that for free. I really love this place.

Also got to check out their 1000+hp twin charged mazda w/ no2. God damn that car is mean.

Pics of my car to come friday or saturday
sorry for the delay.

Finally some sun out to show you guys the new stuffs. In all honesty, it was really hard to get pictures that show the clear bra; just how it should be. I'm 100% satisfied with the way it came out. You really can't see it unless you're looking for it. The full custom hood coverage was definitely a good choice. It looks so clean without that hood line.
