[visordown.com] - Eurosport pens threeyear extension with World Superbikes

World Superbike grid

Eurosport has secured a new contract extension with Dorna to broadcast the World Superbike championship until the 2019 season with the broadcaster set to celebrate its 20th anniversary showing the series in next year.

The new deal sees World Superbikes stay on Eurosport for 2017, 2018 and 2019, and it will broadcast every round of WSBK, WSS and WSTK 1000 live while also showing it across the broadcaster’s digital platform Eurosport player.

Chief Executive Officer at Eurosport Peter Hutton is delighted to tie up the contract extension for the next three seasons after 2016 and its exclusive UK deal with Dorna.

“Dorna WorldSBK has been a great partner of Eurosport's for almost 20 years and we are pleased to continue the relationship until 2019,” Hutton said. “Eurosport viewers are already excited to seeing how reigning champion Jonathan Rea defends his number 1 plate when the 2016 season lines-up later this month and can they look forward to the story continuing on Eurosport for three more seasons.

“We see excellent ratings and viewing figures for the Championship, especially in the UK where fans enjoy exclusive and bespoke coverage from a dedicated Eurosport production team on the ground, so we are happy to maintain that exclusivity in the new agreement.”

The 2016 World Superbike season begins at from Phillip Island in Australia on the 26th-28th February.
