What type of GPS do you use on your bike?
My loving wife has graciously consented to allow me to get a GPS for my bike
And I want to know ... What type do the other members here use? Can you tell me what kind you have, and the pros/cons of that model? I want to make an informed choice when I go to buy mine ... I have NO idea what to look for. I'm a total GPS newb. I have already asked a couple of members for help, but I think asking everyone will help out more! Thanks in advance! Alan |

Yeah that thread is a good one to look at. I just bought a Garmin Streetpilot 2720. Haven't even got it on my bike to use yet, but there are some things I can tell you.
Pros Waterproof Large/High Resolution Screen Buttons to get you to different screens (though they are on the wrong side) Loaded with a lot of advanced features (may take a while to learn to use them, but the general go here/there stuff is simple) Photo sensor that automatically adjusts backlighting Best of all it is cheap. I got mine used for $75 on ebay, but new/refurbished ones are only going for $120ish. Not too bad for a system that retailed for $960 when new (it is a couple years old now) Cons Kind of big (thick) compared to newer models No on-board battery (has to be hard-wired to your bike, but that is not hard I have a thread on here about it) I wish I could be more helpful about actually using it, but maybe in a couple weeks. I got this unit because I wanted to try the GPS out on a bike, but didn't want to spend a lot of money doing it. |

I've been considering a Garmin Nuvi 205. It's a basic unit and, while not waterproof, seems to be the best bang for the buck. I sells for around $140 on Amazon.

I don't need a GPS. I've been on every road in America. If I could only remember where they go it would help though.
