I remember being like 16 and not being able to instantly spot bad ideas... then some years passed and I no longer had that problem: it makes me wonder what happened to the people, like the driver of that car lol. Did he eat to much toothpaste as a kid and it stopped his brain developing?!!

Just from looking at that bike and where it's tied down it's obviously a bad idea

I don't know, it's a decent remedy to a bad problem. All things considered he did a decent job, either the straps sucked or the tie points sucked.

The bottom of the front wheel didn't look like it was strapped down to stop it strafing side to side. The vibrations from the car would slowly slacken the straps and the vibrations would also gradually invoke the strafing motion of the front wheel. Once the front wheel has moved far enough in either direction and the bike is no longer standing perfectly vertical, it's just a matter of time before the bike tips to the side.

I can very clearly picture that problem in my mind.
