Bike got tipped

So I went to the bank today to make a deposit. I'm standing at the counter and some guy walks in and says, "hey man, the guy parked next to you just hit and knocked over your bike." The d-bag backed out, hit the left side of my bike with the front right corner of his truck and knocked it on the right side and of course the blinker punctured a hole in the fairing. He also scuffed up the right mirror housing, and completely broke the glass itself. Nothing major, but it still sucks. I came out and he said "sorry,i didn't even see it", I sarcastically replied, "yeah, that bright red is hard to see". He then said, "Its so low and small it's too hard to see" I then replied, "yeah they really should put side mirrors on cars". After we both calmed down, he apologized sympathetically, and gave me all his insurance info. The bike is < 4 wks old and has <400 miles on it. Thank god, he has insurance. Sorry, I just had to vent.

Sorry to hear the bad news. But at least he didn't hit you while you were riding it. I hope you get your bike quickly from the shop.

Your lucky he didn't just speed off like most people, I've seen that happen plenty of times. It's nice to hear someone posting rationally about their experience rather than simply rambling on blaming the other person for grass being green, if you know what I mean. Glad your ok

Well, that definitely sucks! However, I agree with the others in that at least the guy stayed around to face the music and do the right thing.

Reading the title I was expecting to read about a malicious act. It was an honest accident and it sounds like he was responsible for what he did. I wish more people were that way.

Sucks that your bike was damaged but at least everything is going to be made right.

Yeah, not sure he would have stayed, but like 5 people witnessed it and it all took place in front of a bank, so cameras galore. I could tell the guy truly felt sorry and stupid. Luckily the damage was minimal, and I wasn't hurt....hell I wasn't even on the bike, I was >30 ft away.

So the shop finally worked up the numbers for all the damages....$1200 basically. The right main front faring is cracked around blinker, the left rear tail fairing is scratched, the right handle bar is bent apparently, the right mirror need to be replaced as well as right blinker, the left black plastic piece thats under the seat is cracked, the brKe pedal is scuffed and slightly bent, and the exhaust cover is damaged. Good thing he stuck around, and his insurance is paying

yup, just a small tip over easily causes over 1k in damage, which is why when people get into accidents and are looking to not use their insurance, when it comes time to repair the damage, remains a mystery to me.

I can't see how anyone can call this an accident, really. It's an act of stupidity. Nice to hear that the guy took responsibility, especially since he WAS responsible. How do you walk to your vehicle and not see what's parked on each side of you?

At my local bank, I always park up on the walkway by the ATM.

I tried that, security came out and said I had to move it :-/

Glad to hear no one was hurt and that it's getting paid for.

Yeah my bank won't allow that either. I'll tell you this though. I'll park there from now on and if they say anything I'll just remind them of this incident.

i don't think we should commend people for staying at the scene of accident. Rather just say your lucky he didn't drive off.
