Choke cable relocate

Working on making the 250 track-only and got a question. Is there a DYI mod to relocate the choke cable? Seen a kit for it but was hoping someone had a home-made solution. Thanks.

I hear a lot about people zip tying a loop to the carb directly and just using that.

Else, you could use the barrel end from the choke cable and retrofit it to a friction shifter from an old bicycle (likely it won't fit, too big -- use some creativity!). Something like that though would work. That way you won't have to hold it until the bike warms.

You could probably fix that to the frame somewhere, I'm sure.

Thanks for the suggestion Dave...the bicycle thing looks good cause you could modulate the amount. I was thinking about a universal choke cable like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Choke-Cable-...#ht_713wt_1165. Think that only has an on/off though.

I just have some safety wire with a loop in the end to grab (comes out by the fairing hole). Grab with left hand, full choke, hold/modulate for about 15-30 seconds, good to go.

Got any pictures of how it's hooked up to the carburettor by any chance?

I did this mod today and it worked great. Sorry, I spaced taking pics but I'll try to remember next time I have the fairings off. Pretty simple really. I ran a good amount of safety wire through the eyelet that the choke cable normally connects to. Spun it till I had a good strand away from the fairing and then made a loop back around my finger. Hides behind the fairing when not used

This doesn't really show how the wire is hooked up to the carb but gives the main idea. Works awesome.
