How has he surf been the last several days? Did they have the Eddie Aikau Invitational?

Landed in Anchorage, AK this morning. Thank you free internet in the airport, so I can check out what the ninjetters are doing on new years day while waiting 3 hours for the rental car counter to open.

So, next question. Is there any ninjetters in the Anchorage, AK area? If so, lets meet up and have a brew.

Thanks Steve, but I believe that I found the therapy. I just had my evening meal, dinner to some, supper to others, at a eating/drinking establishment by the name of McGinley's pub. 16 brews on tap, including Guinness and at least 20 different bottles of Scotch. Too bad that it is too far to crawl, er I mean walk. Just got informed that there is another establishment nearby that has about 50 taps. I have about 4 months to try them all. hmmmmm. I think that I am going to like it here. As for the crab boats, no worries there, I saw a few of those shows, no thank you. I'll stick to running wires on aircraft.

In my experience, antifreeze for the human body is alcohol. Am I right?

Update....

OK, I am in Alaska, been here almost 2 weeks. Finally got out of the hotel and rented a room from a nice lady who had a room to rent. The condo is in a built up area in mid town. Near the freeway and lots of other things. On my way home last night, passed a moose, taking a stroll down the road leading to my place. Kewl. Tried to take a picture, but it was too dark.

I heard those moose are pretty damn big, I have seen a few Elk up in the mountains and they can be a bit intimidating especially the bulls.

We have Moose here as well. They can be dangerous, especially driving at night. Unlike deer, their eyes do not reflect back. Their mass and dark color also can pose a problem. Be careful around them.

Beautiful scenery up there. I spent 14 weeks in the Yukon, and that was the best part. Make sure that if your close to the edge of town, some one nearby has a shot-gun, cause those bears can get a little friendly when they wake up. Wish you a speedy return from the frozen land.

I stayed in my car, rolled the window down to take the picture. It was far enough away that I could have gotten the window up and the gas peddle pushed in time to avoid a PO'd moose. That baby was pretty good size. She was just taking a stroll, walked into someones yard and started munching on a tree. A little kid in the window of the house was jumping up and down like it was Christmas morning. If I can find it, I will post the dark pic.

yeah, me too. I loved meeting people and fellow riders on here and getting the chance to meet some of them. I hope to be returning to socal sometime in the future, if only to retrieve my bike and ship it back to Hawaii. I know a lot of people complain about CA, but I grew to like it because there was so much to do there and so many places to ride. I know I just barely scratched the surface of places to enjoy the natural beauty of that area.

Here I go again.....

Moving again, this time to the Fort Lewis, WA area, south of Tacoma. So, if there is any ninjetters in the area, I may have my bike then so I, hopefully, can get in some riding time while I am there. Lets get together and ride some and have a brew or 6. Scuttlebutt has it that I will only be there for a few months then it will be back to the islands for about 6 months or so and then, who knows.

Sometime during that time, I will be going back to Hawai'i for my daughters graduation, and some quality time with my lovely wife, (I really hate these on the job separations)

thanks Kelly, right now I am also entertaining a job offer in Huntsville Alabama, and looking at a few in socal. Daughter wants to go to school in socal and I am rather tired of being away so much, so I am looking at a place where we can settle down.

Chris,

Understand. You need to do what you need to do to suit the family. Hawaii will always be here for your retirement years.

Good luck with your employment decision.

Chris, Ft. Lewis WA is quite nice. I was stationed there after Virtnam. You can clearly see Mt.Rainer from there. Biking is quite good there. Had a Norton when I was there in 1970.
