Hey Guys and Gals

Donalson's Cycles in my area has a NEW 2006 CBR, and they want $7600 + freight and setup. They lowered it from $8k. Told myself i wouldn't consider a brand new bike again, but i'm really leaning towards applying for it.

NADA shows Suggested List Price at $9k
KBB shows $5,345
that' a BIG difference!!!

Any suggestions on what I can use as a negotiating advantage?

All input is much appreciated

+1 for CBR. But 1 question, why would you want to buy a brand new bike when you can get a second hand 09 - 010 low mileage for much cheaper?

If its a new 2006 then they have had it for 5 years and still not sold it. If its been sitting there so long then they are most likely willing to lower the price a bit more to get rid of it. It seems to me that you should be able to haggle them down just based on that.

Not a penny OTD over $6500 and you better insist on an extended warranty. (included in the $6500)

That is a horrible deal, 07+ lightly used are going for cheaper than that, and the 07+ is a better overall bike.

If $7600 + Freight is worth buying for you then buy the 2006 CBR600RR.

But I'll tell you right now it's not worth $7600 or $6500. You could pick up a perfectly good used 2006 600RR for $4500 or less.

Personally I would never pay that much for a bike that's 5 years old unless it's a 125/250GP bike.

It definitely doesn't sound like a good deal at all. Search a little farther, you'd be surprised at what you can find for a good price. A little bit of a drive is for sure worth the money you'll save, and more bike you'll get.

Test ride the '06

Test ride the '07+

Then decide which one you like better..

I had the '06 cbr600rr, then I rode the '07. Both bikes are different.

Thanks for the input! Imma head to the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do for me. I love the headlights on the 03-06 more than the 07+ but that's just preference.
And the taillight is right under the tail and above the exhaust, easy fender clean up

Sold my ZZR600 yesterday! (forgot to get the damn plate off, but i'll be getting it back)

Wish ya boi luck!

i had a 03 -used it on the track but it wasn,t a very good street bike-they had a very peaky powerband until 07-08-i would look at that year and i wouldn,t buy a bike sitting without use for 5 years-and if ever a bike needed a slipper clutch- cbr660rr-watch your downshifts!

I bet! I can't stand going 30 minutes without looking at my bike and I've had it for months.

Don't buy a 6 year old bike-in-a-box. Can't believe they've got the nuts to add freight and set-up, which doesn't exist on any new bikes to begin with, all paid for by builder.

freight and setup are BS fees they add to get more money out of you. don't pay them. you can find a much better deal elsewhere. it may never have been ridden but that doesn't mean it's new. its 5 years old. it hasn't sold for a reason. get a good condition used bike and you'll save 2-3 grand and get the same result. offer them 5 OTD or something similar and if they say no walk away. paying more than that is a waste of your money

I have never paid above msrp and taxes for a motorcycle. I have traveled further than neccesary to obtain one, but honesty is a valuable attribute to me.

That's honestly not something to brag about. Anyone can walk in and pay MSRP, try shopping around the entire state to get invoice pricing.

It doesn't matter if you payed 1000 under msrp you still payed for all cost's incurred to the dealer and freight happens to be one.

Plus it was 09 (with the 1000) or10 that they tweaked the midrange and improved airflow on the 600's.

Freight and set-up are already in MSRP, so they can't be "add-ons." The dealer/owner I paid MSRP to made less than $300, and i've been repaid with an honest mechanic and three good friends because of it. Honesty and Fairness are in my vocabulary is all, so is Humility. You can find the definitions in books. Books are where the hide information, so you know without having to ask.
