Alex,
I want to say yes because I believe I saw pics online at RDL of at least one that had the seat re-done. They certainly didn't express any reseveration about doing it. Last night I meant to take my after-market Corbin seat and lay it on top of the RDL seat so you can get some idea of how much wider this seat is. I will try to do that tonight and post.

The seat is uber comfortable just from sitting on it in the driveway (not test ridden obviously - no fairing parts). I would say that my first impression of this seat is just as favorable as the one on my FJR and that one was a butt saver.

Compare and contrast

Corbin aftermarket seat for the 250 laying on top of the RDL seat.

RDL is wider than the Corbin (which is maybe just a bit wider than stock) by two inches on each side. The Corbin at it's widest measurement is 12". The RDL for the Ninja is 16". As a comparison, the RDL for my FJR is 18".

Looking at the Corbin and RDL side by side. Probably not a fair comparison since the construction of the pans are different but it got me to thinking.... what if you could buy just the pan from Corbin and then send that to RDL to have it built? Don't know if that would work but the construction of the Corbin pan is much more sturdy then the stock seat. It's a done deal now but it is interesting to ponder.

A RDL seat with stiffeners is referred to as a tractor seat. The one on my FJR is very comfortable.

Does the extra width hinder leg movement? Specifically I like kicking my feet back on the rear pegs and let my knees hang straight down.

Teri,

Yes it does hinder movement. Pulling your legs back like you suggested could be difficult. My legs aren't that flexible.

Any pics with all the body work on? Did I miss it? This might be just the seat I need....

And from what I've found, big butts are better at long distance than my skinny ass.... So, I'm a little jelly of those of you with padding...

Looks like you had to remove the piece of bodywork between the two seats, around the lock.

Bruce, didn't have to remove anything. The piece you are talking about is still there. Everything fits perfectly.
