My Turn to polish rim lips

Well I got myself 4 litres of aeronautical paint stripper, a roll of 3M automotive tape some brushes and rubber gloves. I am going to try and get the rear wheel done today and I will do the front tomorrow.

It will look a little funny for one day but who cares

Well I have done one side, about to do the other. I don't have the luxury of a stand. I must say, it's definatly what a black bike needs.

The taping is the worst part...after that its pretty easy. Maintaining them is a pain but I think the polish lip looks great. I've gotten so many compliments on mine from other riders...with a 636 owner asking how much I paid...I said about 20 bucks haha.

Gl make sure to post up

Woohoo all done all I have left to go is cleaning of the fine fragments. I'll do that tomorrow at work. I got tiny of tiniest spots (bout 3 in total) where it ever so slightly crept under the tape.

It is definatly a mod worth doing, atleast to a black one. To cover the ever so tiny blemishes any one know if its a special shade of black ??.

I will post pics tomorrow when its all clean. It also contrasts well with the 2010 black exhaust.

There are more pics to come. I didn't have the transfer lead the other day to put this one up. Its of the rim after having just wiped off the stripper/paint.

others have done the footpeg brackets.

be sure to keep the stripped surfaces waxed after you get it to the shine level you desire.

How about grips, barends, foot pegs, and seat cover?

Will do, my brother in law is comern for a look this arvo and is bringing some polish he uses on his truck. I am not sure of the level of shine I want just yet. I want all the shiney bits that will be on the bike to be the same shine. I guess i will decide once I have the levers (brake and clutch) and the rear sets and see what level of shiney they are.

thanks for the comments guys. I am thinking of doing the bar ends, the top of the tree (the area where the key hole is, triple clamp ??) and maybe the whole of the rider footpeg area to make it llok like rearsets.

I contemplated it. That would then bring up an issue of having to maybe smooth out that area. I am guessing that its a little rougher going of the roughness of the paint in that spokes and hub.
