Winter Wings & Windshields

Hey guys.

So the other day I went to go put on my winter wings since its getting cold out but found out i lost one . Go to mikessheilds.com and guess he isnt doing business anymore. Very sad, I wanted to get a new winter wings and windshield for the new year but i guess that wont happen.

So i decided to make my own winter wings and in the progress of doing other shields too like he made. But I made this thread to see if anyone was interested in winter wings for their pregen. I could make a few with the extra plexiglass i have around, and the ones i made came out pretty good. Ill post pics tomorrow.

PM me if you guys are interested in some winter wings.

Also anyone have any feedback making the curvature of the windshield? I know I would have to heat up the plexiglass but any help would be great.
Thanks

My version on the bike. More squared off than Mikes and a bit more material so helps with directing more wind.

Comparison of Mikes and Mine.

When we would make our own windscreens for the RS125 we would beat up the plexiglass and lay it over a bucket or similar round surface and tape down the edges till cool.

I swear I fixed that twice damn auto correct
Anyways just heat it in the oven for ten mins, 200deg should be enough to soften it. I'm guessing on the time and temp so play around with it.

I highly doubt you'd have any problems doing that also what do you think about this kind of application?

Those would work for sure. Would have to make a bracket to fit on the handle bar, etc. I like the wings bc its easy to remove and not in the way. But you could probably get some supermoto or dirt bike hand guards and modify them a bit to do that.

And I probably will use my old shield then. I wanted to incorporate a shield that would be bigger, like bit better than the double bubble, and adding extra material on the sides for the winter wings just in one piece. like this pic.

My shield from Mike has no bend to it at all, it lays flat on the ground. Kinda makes it a pain to put it on though.

@EMSRacer07

I don't have any more pics of the windscreen but I would be glad to take some. I could also trace out the shape on some cardboard, but I probably won't take the screen off again until spring.

Anyway let me know if there's anything else I can do.

I would be happy with some rough measurements but some pics would be great

I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately to take it off I have to remove the fairing, which I usually don't do unless I have to.

Not a problem and I'm glad to help out. If your still interested in a few months I could trace the shape down on a piece of cardboard and mail it to ya when I take it off.

I'll get you some pics and measurements in the next day or two though.

Yay. How do you like the shield btw. How is the coverage on the body and hands?

Emergency winter wings/hand guards as suggested by one of my MSF instructors when I was taking the class in the winter: Grab two plastic jugs and some strong tape and you should be good.

If you are serious about making extra wings, I would certainly be interested, if the price is right. If you really get ambitious, I would also be interested in a mike's like-shield as well.

I would make them myself but am too lazy.

could probably do them for 15 shipped like how Mike was doing them.

I am actually setting up trying to do a few of his old shields with some cool twists. Maybe a longer double bubble.
