Possibly moving up.
So, recently i have been thinking about moving up to a bigger bike. I have been looking into the Triumph 675. The bike is just gorgeous. I was just wanna get the fellow ninja riders take on this bike? specifically, the 2007 model.
Thanks, all. |

They look great. Perfect for the track. But, not very comfortable on the street. Sit on one first. See if you can test ride it. The few people I met that have them love them. The ergos just take some getting used to.

you are right. the ergos of the CBR are almost perfect. I hope this bike is close to that of the honda. he is asking 5,900 for 6,300 miles. seem reasonable?

Sorry my friend. The ergos on the Triumph aren't even close to being as comfortable as the CBR. It's like the R6, just leaned forward a bit more. Hard to explain... Definitely sit on it in riding position before you buy.

I had the 07 CBR and traded to a 07 675. Different ergos, the CBR was perfect and pretty comfortable. The 675 bars are lower, but there's plenty of aftermarket bars out there (you can even swap left to right for free and it raises it an inch). I don't mind the position at all though so it's still stock in that department.
675 is torquier down low and has pretty much linear power from 3k on where the CBR kicks in at higher RPM. They both don't have slipper clutches compared to every other SS. I'm biased, but the 675 pretty much excels in all areas except comfort (torque, acceleration, etc). My issues with the 675 is that the insides aren't very organized (wires everywhere!). Also, they're known to leak oil or coolant and for the 07, you're gonna have to replace the R/R since it overheats for most people and you'll probably want to disable your EXUP valve. |

I think if a mechanic says they're trouble, he's talking about the owners of the triumphs, and their treatment of an ahead of its time racebike. For the street I'd need a good seat and risers.

I put 10k miles on mine before I wrecked it. I believe mine was an '08, but there aren't really any significant differences between those years.
The seating is going to take some getting used to, especially coming from a 250. I had a set of Helibars installed immediately on mine, although looking at them vs the stock, there isn't a huge difference. As someone else mentioned, you can swap the bars from side to side and probably get roughly the same improvement that the Helibars gave. I never had any major issues with my seat. I rode it from Philadelphia to Connecticut, toured around there (Ct, RI, Mass) for a long weekend, then rode home. Also did a trip rode up to / around / back Vermont. Another trip to upstate NY, across the state, and back home. Once you get used to the seating position, as long as you stop every now and then, I think you'll be ok. Never had any mechanical problems with mine. In fact, now that I've been through a bunch of other bikes, I wish I would've bought another one. Even with a stock exhaust, they sound great. IMHO, the best looking of the 600 class in that time frame. If you get one, keep your ears open around 8k when you're really getting on it. The intake noise is absolutely intoxicating

Sitting on one is a great idea. Triumph is really great about offering demo rides. If there is a dealer around you, go see about taking one out for a short spin. May not be the same year you're looking at, but I don't think they've really changed much except minor cosmetic stuff over the past few years.
That'll give you the best feel for what the bike is like. Be careful though, if you are even close to liking it as much as I did, you'll be buying one asap!

As mentioned alrealdy, the motor on that bike is magic, but there's mixed reviews on the seating position. Some love it, some hate it. I'd recommend not only sitting on it, but trying to take one out for at least 20 minutes.
Now...as always...I'm gonna recommend the Street Triple. Same motor (detuned sorta) minus the SS riding position. If you think that it is a lesser bike in anyway to the Daytona, then you're not riding that damn thing properly. |

+1 on the Street Triple. I'd also recommend that.
I just went on about the Daytona because it sounded like he had a line on one already or something.

The biggest difference you'll find between the 675 and the 250 besides the seating position, the available power, the brakes, the cornering clearance, and the cost of service, is the cost of insuring the bike. THAT will open your eyes.

I took a demo of one about 2-3 weeks ago. I am going to compare it to my R6.
- The seating position is just as aggressive as the R6 but the seat on the Daytona is a bit more firm -Looks I think the R6 wins hands down - The engine has a lot more torque, especially down low which is nice, although it doesn't have nearly the "hit" up top the R6 has. The power delivery is very very smooth as apposed to the R6 which just explodes up top. However, the R6 rev's up a lot faster, the Daytona felt kinda lazy in that department, maybe its the YCC-T(fly by wire) with the R6. The Daytona was more smooth in the power department, the R6 more edgy/raw - The R6 was more flick-able, especially transitioning through switchbacks. The Daytona however felt more "solid/stable" through the turn - The Daytona just simply sounds badass So that's my little review/comparison |

Speaking about 3cylinder racingbikes:
MV Augusta F3, 675cc, 3cylinders, and take a look at that exhaust! Imo far more beautiful than the Daytona, but sadly i bet the price can't be comparable at all. |

What I've read is that the F3 will come into the USA above the 848Evo in price (what's that you ask ... ~$14,000) and should sell well because of its unusual MV Agusta heritage.
