Loss of power, but I think I know why...

Hey guys,

I commute everyday on my bike. This morning it had trouble starting/staying on with the choke full on, which is unusual for the bike. I thought I was running out of gas and so I went to the gas station and filled up. After that, the bike was still running extremely sluggish. It was also "surging", and that dead spot around 6,000 RPMS was EXTREMELY bad. After about 5 miles, the bike was back to normal.

Here's what I think was going on.

I was teaching my girlfriend how to ride the bike last Thursday. All we worked on was where the controls were and how the engine/tranny/clutch interact. I was going over the friction zone, and she was sitting on the bike with it in gear, playing with the friction zone. She then was walking with the bike under her, still playing with the friction zone....she would slowly let the clutch out and walk the bike, and when the bike started going too fast, she would pull the clutch back in. So, Thursday night, the bike was idling for about 15-20 minutes.

Friday morning, I woke up and it was pouring out. Unfortunately, I left my cover off my bike. My bike sat in the POURING rain all day. Saturday, we got up at 6:30AM and left for the weekend. I covered my bike when we left, and the bike sat until this morning.

Soooo, does it make sense that the bike would be acting a bit funny after this? Both the idling for a long period and possible water in the exhaust? Is my bike jacked up now?

theres nothing wrong with your bike. except maybe some dirty carbs and possibly some bad gas. see if some seafoam helps it
