My first jacket was an xelement jacket, and I still have it. But I only bought it because it was before I knew anything, and I thought leather=good, regardless of details. It's a nice-looking jacket, and I now wear it only as that -- a lightweight leather jacket for going out. But I will never ride in it. The leather feels thin (compared to my Shift leather jacket), and none of the 'sport' details are there. It feels and fits more like 'designer' leather than riding leather.
It's totally possible that they make better stuff than I bought (mine didn't even come with armor), or that they make better stuff NOW (this was in 2006, I believe). But my jacket is not really even a motorcycle jacket; it's a motorcycle STYLE jacket. Hope that helps. If it's an issue of money, check into the closeouts on sportbiketrackgear, revzilla, motorcyclecloseouts, and various other sites. You can get legit jackets at ridiculous prices if shop around. |

I had an xelement jacket, only complaint was the velcro was weak and not too sticky. It was a good textile winter jacket, I was actually quite impressed with it. Gave to a friend when I upgraded and he still uses it.

I almost got one but then I found an Icon on sale for $125 bucks - and at that price I figured there was no reason not to get the name brand.

I ended going with a racing style xelement jacket. I am on a budge at the moment so I wanted something that would protect me a little. even tho I always wear my striker vest.
this is what I went with... http://www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Text...et/115632.html I honestly have no complaint as of right now. it has armor in the elbows and forearm and shoulders along with a back pad. its comfortable, and has a removable inner liner. it keeps me warm and has a lot of vents for summer. I previously had a scorpion textile jacket but the pads wouldn't stay in place and the local shop didn't have a very good selection of jackets. |

I have one of their mesh jackets and find it veerry breathable and comfortable. The type 3 or level 3 armor consists of foam CF pads in the elbows, shoulders and back.
Relatively cheap and better than nothing.

My first riding jacket was an Xelement textile and I had no complaints with it. For the price, it was very well put together.
