I think project caffeine transport Ninja is a success! Cupholder post part II

I have been searching for a way to pick up coffee on the way to work and then continuing the ride. I am not looking to drink on the bike or while riding..

Today, we ran errands, and one of our stops was to Toys R Us to get a bell for our daughter's bicycle.. and then I came across this:

It is meant to mount on the handlebars of a bicycle, but it is well made out of aluminum and rubber with an allen headed set screw.

After trying it out on the left hand clipon (the right hand doesnt have enough room for it), it was clear that it wouldnt work, as turns would bring the cup either into the tank or the windscreen...

then I had an idea.. why not mount it to a mirror stalk? And so I did... it mounts snug and secure, and the rubber on the mounting base minimizes scratches...

From the front

Travel mug mounted

I filled it with a medium Dunkin Donuts coffee just about to the rim, and went for a ride.. after about 10 blocks of bumps and turns, I noticed that abit was coming out of the top of the mug.. I pulled over, shut off, removed my helmet and took 2 short sips to lower the level. All back on and riding again.. never saw any coffee at all. Success!

After I got home, I got another idea.. would the Dunkin Donuts coffee cup fit snug enough? And it did.. so I guess I don't even need to bring the travel mug around...

And it was only $7.99 at Toys R Us.
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=3469865

The brushed aluminum doesn't look too out of place on a bike... and it doesn't scream cupholder... as least not to me.. when it isnt in use.

Even if it ends up not working out, I could always put it on my bicycle... but it seems to be perfect.

Now you need a helmet with a flip up chin so you can leave it on when you want to take a sip.

Use the travel mug! It will stay warmer and you keep styrofoam out of the landfill!

Isn't anyone else wondering what happens when you lean through a 90 degree turn? I can see your battle-ready starbucks mug probably won't spill, but what about your dunkin donuts paper cup?

Mind trying it with a medium iced? I very rarely drink hot coffee during the summer, and Toys 'R Us is a half hour away.

Pretty sure this is my next mod, and then we can see how it looks on a new gen too :-)

That's going to be tough since I don't like iced coffee.. tried it once.. awful.. I drink hot coffee even in th mid 90s weather... if the opportunity presents itself to try someone else's iced coffee I will do it though.

Hmmm, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'll just try to get up to Toys 'R Us and put one on myself. There's a bicycle shop inside a mile from my house - maybe I'll try them tomorrow.

Hehe this is so funny.. I am sorry. ><'

As for the tea I think the cup size is what matters. So if you have a travel mug the same size as Adams it should work. Just ask them to make the tea in your mug..

Grn99kawi- post another picture of that on your bike. There is no pic from the original post and the link to Toys R US you posted doesn't show anything. I'm interested to see what you got.
