painted windscreen?

Anyone ever paint the stock windscreen? I don't think I've ever actually looked through mine while riding and was contemplating painting it during my repaint. It's smoke, so I may just leave it. New color of the bike is going to be orange like this:

Pretty sure a number of the new-gen owners have, I'm sure I've seen pictures. There may even be a DIY up in the new-gen farkles section.

You don't look through the windscreen so why not paint it to match the bike. I think it would look great.

I found one post, but that was just painting it black. I was thinking more body color.

That's what I was thinking. Didn't know if it'd be too much orange. Maybe I could do it green and make an Oompa Loompa / pumpkin bike.

If you're sticking with the orange w/ silver accents paint scheme per the pic, silver for the shield might look good.

I vote black (looks good on her blue bike). Use krylon fusion paint, it sticks to plastics great.

I think it would look great! As long as your not going to ever have to look thru the screen do it.

I have looked through mine. When at full tuck in a straight line I find myself looking through the screen... but my 20yr old factory smoke screen is rather hard to see thru so I don't stay like that long.

You could also dye it. Which will leave it transparent but with a tint.
Use Rit dye....you know the dye for clothing. Use a few boxes to make a super-concentrated batch of dye.

Along the silver thought, I could have it metallized...

Probably cheaper to just throw some paint on it, plus then I could touch it up if I ever needed to.

Put the first coat on the front just now. Paint is Rust-Oleum "aluminum", which is basically silver:

Using this painting method:

I painted my whole car with that method... it works great!!

For the doorjambs/etc I used a cheapo harbor freight hobby air brush with the same mixture in it, if you decided to paint the whole bike that way I'd suggest getting one of them because the roller doesn't fit into real small places too well.

Cool. I'll have to remember the airbrush. I've got a car to do too if I ever quit messing with the bike.

Here's a pic of the first coat (shadow on the lower left is from my sweatshirt):

Here it is on the bike. I threw it on before riding to work this morning. Need to make two more of those nuts for the bottom screws. I may try making a shorty verison that just comes up to where the fairing ends and do that in body color. Whatever I end up sticking with, I'm going to do the screws to match...

There has been many an argument started about painting the windscreen on a sportbike. From my experience when I am in a full tuck I do need to be able to see partially through the windscreen, however if you never go into full tuck and just put around on the street then you are probably fine. This is just my opinion of course and I would want a see through windscreen.

On the 250, I'm usually sitting on the passenger seat when I go into a tuck.

It's not a perfect color match (rattle can I had sitting around), but I'm lovin' the body-color windshield...

You need a new wind screen. Scuff the INSIDE (the side that faces the rider) of it with steel wool and then paint the INSIDE.

That would probably add some nice depth on a clear screen. Mine was a smokie though, so I just did the outside of it.

Might be neat to do a clear screen in body color up to where the fairing ends and then fade it out with some airbrushed paint drops. Something like this, but flipped over:
