Decreasing RPMs at WOT After Being at or near WOT for 1 hour

I was riding on the freeway getting out of the bay area the other day and noticed something peculiar.

The first hour I was at or near WOT on the freeway, maintaining WOT at around 10.5-12k with the engine able to maintain that RPM. I'm driving on flat roads and wasnt going uphill when this happened.

Then after about an hour, I noticed my bike couldn't keep up with being at that RPM. It slowly started to decrease in speed, so much that I had to downshift two gears Into 4th to keep the RPMs in the 11k range. I was shitting myself thinking I had a no oil situation and my engine was about to seize. Stopped and checked my oil. Oil is full. Didn't hear any weird engine sounds or smells. Got back riding but I slowed down and kept the RPMs low for about 15 min in the 6-8k range, then tried going WOT again, bike was able hold 11k RPM at 5th gear without loosing power.

Valve adjustment last done at 25k mi this past August, the bike now has 30k miles. Spark plugs changed last month.
Sprocket setup is 15/45, I use the 6th gear as an overdrive. Haven't run compression test yet, can't do a leak down because I don't have a compressor. I am burning some oil, not sure how much as it was about a couple milimeters below a white line I made in August. Not sure how that translates to the amount in qt of oil it's burning. No lights on the dash lit up

Is this something I should investigate further? Other than WOT, bike send to run fine with no noticable power loss at lower speeds (below 70mph).

Could be a fuel delivery issue, so check the screens on the petcock and the internal filter at the carb inlet. If the petcock has a reserve setting, give that a try to see if it affects it.

I'd also pop the fuel filler cap when you feel it start to slow down to listen for air rushing in, telling you there a venting issue.

Check the air filter. How much oil is in the airbox?

Was the engine in the normal temp range?
