My Ninja's older step-brother
1993 VFR750F
Got her as a barn bike, non-running, back on 1/6/13. The last papers that came with it were dated 1996, so there's no telling how long it just sat there... I hate that huge can, blocking the view of such a magnificent 8 spoke!

Great ride. I put over 10,000 miles on one of those puppies. It wasn't even mine.

Thanks guys. Finishing the registration soon and I'll have it on the road.
The exhaust is quiet-ish but the cam gear sound sooo nice.

Thanks guys! Most sport bikes 'scream'... this thing ROARS! V-4 config with gear driven cams. Almost like hearing a 4-stroke in the middle of a MX race.
Tyga makes a small muffler called a Maggot, not "too" expensive in comparison to others. I'm thinking about saving up for that, OR swapping from a Gen3 to a Gen4 header, and fabbing up a left-exit. The RC-30 race bikes were left-exit, so it would be a bit of homage to the previous era.

Edit: Ok, actually... after seeing pics of Jono's pre-gen street fighter, I think doing something similar would be great. Especially since my gf is getting interested in learning to ride. 2x 250's plus the VFR would be quite the stable. Thank you!

I like the solo cowls too... I'm looking online now at heat moldable plastic pellets. If i can come up with a good (reusable) form, I can likely make more than 1 cowl from it.
Some people have swapped over to an early-2000's 929 tail section, but I'm not looking to change THAT much of the look of the bike.

Great find! I bought a new 2003 VFR800 but wasn't a fan of the VTEC and missed the gear driven cams. I did like the single sided swingarm when it came to removing the rear tire and adjusting the chain. I love your classic bike. Enjoy.

I absolutely hated the VTEC on my 03 VFR and the throttle response at slow speeds was abrupt. The problem with VTEC was the transition from 2 valves per cylinder to 4 valves at 7000 rpm. It was fine if you were riding on the highway but would upset the chasis while leaned over. Riding in the twisties, I had to make sure I was over 7000 so as to not get that disturbing VTEC engagement. Honda changed it to 6200 and softened the engagement on later models (2006?) but I never tried it. My VFR was a comfy tourer but my riding changed to track days and riding the twisties with a good group of riders. The VFR just required way too much effort, especially transitioning from one side to the other in tight turns because of its heavy weight. I picked up my 03 636 and used it much more so the VFR was sold. If I had it to do again, I would have purchased a leftover 2002 VFR over the new 2003. I was hoping Honda would make the new VFR lighter and sportier but they went the other way with an overpriced, shaft drive 1200. Too bad

I have to agree with you, in being disappointed in the new direction of the VFR. I think they are fugly. As for bikes, I've never ridden one with VTEC, but I don't know that I would like an abrupt change in power like that.
However, the 2007 RWB Anniv Edition is one that I would LOVE to have someday though.

I feel like all superbikes have vtec since the power explodes on them.

I have a feeling that you have not experienced the VTEC on Honda's VFR. The reason it runs on 2 valves per cylinder below 7000 rpm is to save fuel. It has no place on a superbike or any bike that spends time on the track. Honda likes to throw new features at the VFR and they often aren't needed or wanted. An example would be the DCT on the newer VFR.
