Why not just leave it in gear? Obviously you should let it roll until the engine catches it before you set it on the stand. Don't know why the author of the article didn't do that and then claimed it didn't work.

If you need the brakes on in a trailer... You probably need to tighten your straps.

There are two times when I clamp the front brake

- When putting it up on the rear stand, clamping the brake keeps the bike from wanting to roll forward. Not required, but it does make things more stable.

- When bleeding brakes, putting a zip tie on the front lever overnight helps get that last tiny little bit of air out. i was skeptical about this until I tried it.
