I went for a roll in a ditch
Hi guys,
Had a real slow off last night in some twisties. Bike and I came out okay, I have got a pretty nasy bruise on my back, and the bike needs some new Fairings on the left hand side, the dent in the tank from the from the bars sorted out, and I need to find out why she wont idle. Was comming down a reasonably shallow hill into a 90 degree right hander, it's been a bit hot over here recently (whole country is officially in drought status) reasonably new seal on the road, and the metal seem to not have stuck to the tar very well. I think I compression locked the back wheel while slowing, then the bike stalled while in the skid, hit the loose gravel on the edge of the road, and went for a roll into a ditch. All in all, not a bad off, I'll heal, and it sounds like a great excuse for some aftermarket fairings. The Area P exhaust, jetting kit, exhaust hanger, and pod filter all shipped late last week, so the bike was due to spend a few nights in the shed anyway. |

In NZ the majority of our roads are coarse chip stone (metal) over bitumen or tar.
In the heat the tar melts and releases the stone. On a newly sealed road the stone hasn't had the volume of traffic on it to compress the stone into the tar. While the Forgotten World Highway (as the road is known) is a great ride on a sports bike, it is not a regularly travelled road Posted via Mobile Device |

Sorry to hear about your fall.
I am always weary of riding over places where the sealed the asphalt, never know if it will be sticky or slick. Heal up quick and good luck with fixing up the bike! |
