I was wondering when this would crop up again... sent messages to get planning underway but nobody responded.

I need to plan trips like this well in advance due to other commitments. Not sure if I can do it this time... depends on how my schedule works out, both at home and at work.

NJMP might be a more viable option for me.

Please give me some solid dates to work with.

Pitt Race only has 3 track days left on the calendar this season.

6/17 - Sat.
6/18 - Sun.
7/14 - Fri.

None of those work for me.

We need a plan b... anyone got any creative ideas?

We all live stream/Facetime our track days and ride around with VR goggles strapped to our helmets?

Hey, you asked for creative....

Might just have to bump it to next year and plan further ahead.

Hey, There is a Pitt Race date on 7/31 as well. I'm planning to make a weekend of it and ride dirt bikes at some local trails the day before as well
downside is that 7/31 is a monday

Other than that NYST July 22-23 is likely a good bet
@adouglas if you're looking for a good NJMP event July 9-10 (sun/mon) you get to ride lightning then thunderbolt and CCS is there so it'll be a good show

I think there are a few days in august that are sat/sun that I'll be coaching. I'll look into those for you

Actually just looking for an opportunity to hang with the crew. If it weren't for the company I'd just stick with the TTD schedule.

I had to fish or cut bait and since planning wasn't happening for Pittrace, I committed to vacation for the two weeks straddling July 4. That kicks off with two days at NYST.

Andrew. Me, Steve, John and Chris are coming up Saturday evening. 2 pickups one pulling an enclosed trailer and one pulling a camper. Black r6, black 636? Red super hawk and my green and black 636. I think they will all be in yellow.

Ah, bugger. Monday will be new to me too... Tony's running it downtown. The one day I was at NYST we went uptown, and that's the way it'll run Sunday.

PS: If you plan on hitting the classroom, bring a bicycle. It's a longish walk from the lower paddock to the building.

Have only done this track once before and it was uphill. Glad day one will be semi familiar and looking forwards toward then going downhill. 36 different turns. That's a lot of work for my brain.

Good to see adouglas. One and a half great days until I low sided on outlap of 6th session of day 2.

Added too much lean and slid it away.

Why it's REALLY important to look ahead. The last session before lunch on Sunday (uptown) ended early due to a two-bike crash in the last corner. It was not visible until you'd already committed to the turn. Scary!

Fortunately this is a slow, 90-degree turn so entry speeds are fairly low. But still, with no warning...

PS: Looking at this again, I now realize I did the textbook MSF rider course "emergency braking in a turn" maneuver without even thinking about it.

WTF?!?!?!?

Where is the flag station(s) to let you know? Special considerations should be in effect for blind turns/crests.
Why are the down riders just standing around in the impact zone?

Would have been turn 15, that spot is going to be on the horizon for the flagger. The Pit should have had an open eye to that, but depending on it just happening the other riders could be just past stand 15.

Wreck happened at turn 18:

Thanks Nick. From the vid, I could tell that the crash was at the start of the straight, watched the video twice. Looks like they need a flag station at 17 near the crest when the track is ran in that direction. After all, it is called NY "Safety" Track.

They do have a stand there, look at 1:57 and you will see it to the right, they just don't populate them all.

1,3,5,7,11 and 15 are the usual populated stands.

downtown one session before my crash. I take some liberties with lines (wide turning) as there was a swoopy Pani rider I wanted to get around, safely of course!!

THE AMAZING MOVING SCHEDULE UPDATE POST

Lesson learned from last year. After awhile, you can't edit posts. So this post will be updated periodically and moved to the bottom of the thread.

Rumblings about a get-together at NYST August 5/6....

I am trying to throw this together kinda last minute, sorry.

My plan:
Me, Kevin, Claudio, Drew and Mike will be all together + anyone else who wants to join the fun/laughs (Me, Kevin and Drew in the same trailer)
I will spend from now, and until then preparing a menu
Claudio is a 5* chef!!!!! (and my inspiration for the "track day chef thread") He calls the shots behind the grill/skillet, we provide support only!
We will arrive late Fri., will need someone to reserve a spot for a 3-4 canopy/camping area
We are looking to buy our spots next week
We are all looking to ride "blue/yellow"/Intermediate group (some of us will have to sign up in "Novice" because its our first time there)
I will call them ahead of time so they know what is coming....
It's a new track to Me, Kevin and Drew. so we have no problem riding in Novice as long as we don't go 40mph all day

DO NOT bring food, just bring a $10 spot to chip in but please bring your preferred refreshment/dessert needs.

EDIT: Wine available upon request.... hahahahhhahah, NOT JOKING!!!!

EDIT 2: @Ducati999, feel free to bring any of your wife's great vittles (if she feels up to it)

Boo friggin yah.

Parking/setup is always a challenge at NYST. The main drag up by the building has angled slots along one side and a sort of parallel parking thing along the other.

At the bottom of the hill is a completely separate area ("ghetto") that might be where we wind up. Bring a bicycle, because it's a HIKE to toilets/showers from there. Try to find a level spot. There are lots of spots that are sloped... I dropped my bike the first time I was there because of that.

I won't be able to get there until Friday evening either. Still trying to get an answer from the Mrs.

You guys like turtle soup?

Being the only redneck at the track has you doing work that you hadn't planned for, and yes... they asked if I was going to eat it.

In my best Steve Irwin voice "Crikey!!! That's a big snapper for around these parts!"

hahahahahhaha

We can do the ghetto if need be, I have a paddock scooter now. At best we can do two up to the restroom.

Rental cost is 1 reacharound per two up per ride.

Locked in on one on one coaching at lightning on the 6th but I might be able to make the 5th. What organization is running that day? Or is it a straight NYST day?

I think it's NYST only. The only info I have is from their website, and the schedule doesn't list anyone else.

Hey hey we camped in a camper in the ghetto area for 3 nights, yes the Monday the track day ended we were the only crazies who stayed for one more night of crazy thunderstorms, great food and drink. And we watched videos of my crash. Nothing wrong with being down there and the pit bike happens to come in handy when too tired to walk up the hill, but you can get good walking exercise in w/o it.

Okay, so looks like this August 5/6 NYST thing is in fact happening. Not quite sure who's actually made the call and signed up yet, but so far it's @csmith12, @adouglas and @Ducati999 for both days, @Bigballsofpaint for Sunday only, so he can blow up his 848 again .

If it blows I'm just leaving it on the side of the road, must have fallen off the truck. It's a real love hate with that damn bike. I don't know what day yet though but I'm in for 1 of them
