Newgen engine parts to pregen?

As i am preparing for a complete top down rebuild of my engine i saw in ebay that newgen parts are cheaper than pregen and is in better condition (shiny without rust or gunk), they look similar but will they fit?

Buying a whole engine is not economical the shipping fee starts at $1,000 flatrate ,while the shipping for a cylinder head assembly for example is just $42 USPS expedited

Here's in my list:
Cylinder head assembly(with rocker arms,valves,bolts,gaskets,caps,etc)
Cylinder block assembly(with piston,rings,gaskets,etc)

It is extremely unlikely that any of the internal parts from the newgen will fit in the pregen motor.

The best course of action IMHO, as a person who has rebuilt several motors, is to first disassemble and clean everything, then get actual measurements of cylinder bores and bearing clearances. Do a visual inspection of the bores and bearings. Critical: Be sure to use a permanent marker to mark all bearings and pistons as to where they go. Chances are that there's nothing wrong with most parts and you can put them back in as long as you put everything exactly back where it came from. Also, when you pull the pistons do not remove the rings until you've measured and inspected the bores. Rings are cast iron and when removed often break, which creates the need to buy new rings, gap the rings, hone the cylinders, and go through a ring break-in procedure.

Post pictures of everything once you have it apart.

Do you mean the crankshaft bearings? as much as possible i dont want to open that up , i will only check the block and the head assembly. but is it possible to know if a bearing is bad by just playing with the movements of the piston? or the only way is to open it up?
