Fixed the idle, but rev it and it dies
I've used the wiki to do some of the things listed below, but haven't been able to find a fix to this in there (probably user error). So, I submit this to all of you.
Long story short – son had my Ninjette for several months, it sat outside uncovered at an apt. complex where people messed with the bike. He brought it back to me, after he bought a new motorcycle & had let it sit for a few months. When he drove it over, it was revving high, and was very hot. Here’s what we (my DH & I) did to it. - Changed oil & oil filter - Replaced air filter - Replaced spark plugs - Checked & filled coolant to proper level - Cleaned the carbs - Drained gas tank & put in non-ethanol 91 octane fuel Just before lending this bike to my son, I had shimmed the carb needles with one washer each on the carbs & removed the snorkel. I undid this when we cleaned the carbs (per my DH suggestion). Now, we have the idle set, and it’ll idle just fine. However, when revved, it’ll die, and seems flooded. Suggestions? |

I can't help you with the dying, but I must ask why you are running 91

It was suggested by the tech where I buy parts from. Normally, I'll just run the 87.

There are plenty of threads arguing this on here that you can go look for, but the gist of it is that you only need to run 87.
Running 91 can actually lead to less gas being burned in the combustion part of the cycle. It also will give you less in gas mileage. But good luck with the rest of the fix

Just throwing out a guess. I would look over the carb float assemblies and confirm float heights.
Examining all of the inlet/vacuum lines and main jets wouldn't hurt either. |
