Angry PROTECT-IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

PROTECT-IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

I guess congress is reviewing this bill TODAY and it is said that it's likely to pass.

Censorship only divides us, and divided we are conquered.

It's bad law. We can hope that the attention being paid (better late than never) on some of the ramifications of the proposed laws/regulations will end up with some reasonable compromises.

I wonder if Occupy was sort of a catalyst to this bill.

I don't like it.

If it passes I'm fighting back.

Watched the video, used the provided link to send letters to my representatives, and shared on Facebook. How many more freedoms are they going to take away from the people and give to the corporations?

Not necessarily no Internet, just strict censorship of it in America, very similar to how China is censored. Below is actually a really good video that explains it pretty well.

Wooot, SOPA has been shelved people. Obama has announced he will not support either bill. SOPA has been defeated...... for now. They will be back with other proposals with a more narrow view of how to combat piracy. It's not total victory, but it is at least one battle won.

Just say no to SOPA....

I'm glad to see the internet as a whole taking this so seriously. This is very dangerous stuff. The peak of a very slippery slope.

Not to start a political war, but that is the best thing Obama has done since being elected.

Well the House still has PIPA. It's not scheduled until the 24th. However, with Obama's announcement it's likely to also be shelved. I'll wait till they announce that they are shelving it before celebrating.

I believe you're thinking about the senate version. House attempt died.

Cute link that's actually true.

SOPA, and the idiocy of Democrats

TheDailyshow posted a hilarious video on Rep. Mel Watt last night.

Oops, sorry, had them backwards. I knew each one was from one side of Congress and not both. Oh well, PIPA will still be defeated in the end.
