DO. IT.

Just take a mechanic to get the Raven checked out first. Sounds potentially fishy

Lol is the R6 missing a piston? If it is, its still faster than the ninjette.... if it all checks out then holy damn thats a good deal! id take it. hmmm so if you can get an r6 for a 250, does that mean i could get like an r1 for a 500..?

yeah, im gonna check it out. Make sure its all good. He said he has a clean title and its in perfect running order. If we dont trade he said hes putting in on CL for $5300. its got 10k miles on it. minor scratches, and paint defects. stock other than that. relatively new tires from what I can understand.

story: bought for GF, to big for GF, wants something smaller that looks good. Enter my bike.

My bike is sexy as hell so I can understand why hed want to. Im sure he got it for a deal or something, so he isnt losing much if any money. R6's go for 5kish all over, so if he got a deal on it I doubt he is losing money.

I owned that exact same bike way back when, picked up one of the first ones available in late 2004. Great brakes, great motor, fantastic steering. Definitely a fun bike, but really came into its own on track. On the street it was always a bit of a tease, as it's just not set up for going slow. At lower revs and lower speeds, the engine doesn't feel particularly happy, and the suspension isn't particularly compliant. Was looking at the pics on the off-chance it was my actual bike (sold to a dealer in Oakland when I picked up the 10R), but if there aren't holes in the fairings for the vortex framesliders, it's not mine.

I think that the R6 would have somewhat more $ value than the ninjette, but it is right now a 7 year old bike that is typically treated in a way that doesn't encourage long life. Check for transmission problems, even that range still had issues with a weak second gear on some units.

Lucky you if you get the trade. I want a 600 ): 50% for the beauty of an I4 exhaust note, 50% for the extra power and 50% for doing wheelies.

Good advice Alex, if we meet up I will probably meet up at my mechanics and he can look over both bikes for both of us. Not sure what owner he is on it, but he has two of them, said there are no mechanical problems and that its been his GF's bike. So not sure how long its been in his possession.

Justin, I know how afraid you were to race me on my pre-gen, but this is a bit too much. We can call it off, okay?

Seriously, that looks like an awesome deal if it checks out, I can sorta understand his situation and why it might make sense for this seller...

You heard Alex--this means you'll have to take it to ThunderHill!

Sliders really did save me a bunch of cash on that bike, though. Tipped over near the top of 2nd gear at Thunderhill, and it went sliding down the track for what seemed like forever. Didn't have to replace a single plastic piece (just some minor scratches, nothing cracked).

Looks to me like his R6 isn't worth that much more than our 250's. Only about a $1000 difference. The 250 holds higher resale value already because of its high demand.

@gophurr is correct. the going price for early R6s, especially that model is right around the 4.5K mark. Ive seen as low as 3k. Even the 09 R6S can be found very cheap.

@massacremasses keep at it man. your deal will find its way to you.

I almost bought a Gsxr 750 as my first bike for 4k, but it had 32k miles on it (20kish actual miles due to the aftermarket sprokets) I told him to give me a day to have my bro look at it in his shop, next thing I know another guy shows up and buys the bike I was sad, cuz both of us had cash in hand, but the other guy knew about bikes, where as I needed someome to look at it. So I bought the ninja 2days later lol. Sux missing out on a great deal, although im still happy with thr ninja and feel.more.secure knowing I bought my first bike new. And in Ohio(Dayton) the 600s go for 3-5, k all day long, but moreso in the 4.5-5kish range.

Yeah the best deals are unfortunetly in the bay area which is a little bit of a drive, however I may put it up there and see what I get. But who knows maybe Ill sell it in the peak of summer and wait untill Oct. or Nov. to buy another one to get the best deal

if I dont trade then the bike will prolly be going to a good home. My BFF (my best man in my wedding) He told me today if I have it in a couple months he wants it.

Sorry I spliced those things in... It would be a paint to take them out. Also I gave away my other ones! IM NICE TOO AND GIVE STUFF AWAY

Also if he buys it, it will actually get finished.... I just threw money into it (and a **** ton of work) and decided I wanted a supermoto if i get this R6 (which I still am not holding my breath) Ill prolly ride it for awhile. Sell it mid summer and get a supermoto this winter.. lol
