RPM drops when braking
On my 95 250, when I rock the bike back and forth with the front break pulled, the idle will drop significantly and the bike is close to stalling. A few times, on the street I hit the brakes at a stop light / sign the RPM's dropped and the engine died.
About the bike - 2000 original miles Bike is bone stock fuel tank is spotless. No rust New OEM petcock Carbs just cleaned and all new jets / components installed Oil changed and just below the upper mark on sight glass Battery is new Any ideas what would cause this? |

My money is on the carbs causing the problem. Maybe float level too high or float valves not closing properly.
I hope you didn't use the any jets from a carb kit. They're not genuine Keihin, and they are not the right sizes. The float needles and seats should be OK though. |

I was thinking carb related as well.
Is it sputtering, but will clear if you rev it up? It does sound like excess fuel could be getting dumped-in and flooding the engine. Float levels would be something to check. I agree with TJ - don't use aftermarket "Carb Kit" or "Jet Kit" jets. Many times they are not correct. |

suggest subjecting carbs to the "clear tube method", adjusting as necessary.
