Vibrations in handlebar - Ninja 250's
After riding for an hour and getting off, my hands were "tingling" After hopping back on I noticed that the 250's motor really has a fine vibration at highway speeds that can be felt through the grips....does anyone else have this problem or have a remedy? Or is it just my bike?

I have an '09 250 and mine does the same thing. As goofy as it sounds I bought some BBs and poured them into each handlebar after unscrewing the bar ends. Now there is still a little vibration but it is not bad. If you don't end up liking it, then simply pour them out and your out $5. I packed them tight and there is now noise from them at all.

Nice one dude! Hey Kkim! I'm not sure if you've fixed your handlebar shaking problem yet, but you might try this as a way to counter that some!

if you are going to go that route, i read that it may be better to use lead shots rather than bb's. same principle, but less likely to rattle if you don't quite get it full.
has anyone tried and had good results with those gel type hand grips? btw, i used to have the same problem after long rides. my fingers used to sometimes get numb. |

You can buy weighted Bar-ends that will take out some of the vibration.

I bought gloves with the gel grip in them and I still get the tingling but not nearly as bad as I did with other gloves without the gel. I also don't hammergrip the bars anymore unless in a turn.

Don't overlook your gloves. I have a "pile" of gloves and have had lots more. Some gloves will make hand pain/tingles/numbness/fatigue worse that others. Be sure they aren't tight, a tight glove will deffo cause problems. Check the seams of the glove... as in where the seams are. Some glove seams run along parts of my hands and cause tingles and/or fatigue lots faster than gloves with a seam someplace else. It amazes me sometimes, watching other riders fighting to get their gloves on!

Some bikes vibrate more than others, and even if two bikes vibrate identically, some people are more or less sensitive to that particular vibration. Try and loosen your grip on the bars, it can make a big difference. You should hold the bars only as tight as necessary to control the brake, throttle, and clutch properly, and no harder. The best description I've been given of this is "hold them as if you're holding two baby chicks, and you don't want to squeeze them to death". Everything should almost immediately feel better with the handling of the bike, and likely your hand comfort as well.

New bar ends sound better than the BBs. Should anything go wrong there will BBs everywhere.

out of curiosity, are you wearing leather gloves or not? and do you grib the bars with white knuckles? Generally what rpm's do you cruise around at? My bars vibrate a little, but not to the point where my hands are tingly after.

Man, I had the SAME problem. My hands would tingle really bad. I had to shake it off. I know I have "death grip" right now since I am a new rider and this is a brand new bike. I have noticed when I dont choke the handlebars, it is better. It is pretty annoying though...

I have the same problem, no fix as of yet. I don't really feel it until I have been on the freeway about 30 min or so. I have went on rides and paid attention to it and the high freq vibes didn't start until after about 30 min. I don't grip the bars with a death grip and I got a crampbuster and that has helped, but my hands still go numb. I have been looking at the gel grips, but haven't got them yet. I am also looking at some different gloves, my hands have gotten bigger since I started back to work.

I definitely get this too. In my feet as well. Particularly after highway riding. '03 ninja here, I think it's a common thing in all ninjas.

Numb hands
Hi, guys
Back into riding a motorcycle after a 20 year absences. I am also having a problem with the tingling, but it’s only in my right hand after about 15 mins. I have never owned a four stroke motorcycle before and don’t remember having this problem on two strokes motorcycles in the mid 80s. I was thinking of taking the handle bar end off and filling the handle bar with foam from a spray can |

I had the same problem. During Labor Day weekend I rode for over 600 miles in 2 days mostly on freeways around 75mph, loose gripped(stock grips) and with mesh gloves. After the tirp I had numbness in my right index finger for more than 3 weeks So I changed my grips to Pro Grip RVGS(Reduced Vibration GEL System) and got leather gloves for long and/or cold weather rides. I made a similar trip last weekend and I didn't get any numbness this time.

Hi Niel, and welcome to the forum Kelly did a great DIY on a practically free way to weight the bar-ends - that could help with the problem you're having - just pop over to the tech forum and look for it in the DIY directory
