Would you trust these on highway speeds?
...because I'm scared sh*tless.

They work Great if your within the weight capacity. I've used these on MX bikes but I ran a couple HD tie downs from the Carrier to the Trucks bed hooks for added peace of mind.

I've had someone tow my bike like that before. It was fine.

Long as the hitch can handle the weight, its a great way to carry a bike. Hauled a KLR650 half way down the state on one.

I looked at adding one of those to our Explorer, but was skeptical that it would hold up to the weight of the bike. I believe I seen a youtube video that showed a Harley or Gold Wing on one. I would think that it would be better suited for bikes under 300 lbs. Also, as mentioned, you auto will need to be able to support that amount of weight at the hitch.

I had a great idea of supporting more weight that included attaching wheels at either end. This would help support the hitch and distribute the weight better. Unfortunately, that would probably cause other issues.

The guy who towed my bike had attached bars to each end of the hitch trailer that rested on the bumper for additional stabilization.

Add the hitch retainer device that prevents side to side rocking, not that it will hurt it. It just pulls the tongue of the carrier to one side, takes out the slop and the bike won't move.

so long as the hitch has it and it's tied down right, it should be fine. that said, I wouldn't trust it with anything more valuable than an mx bike. a track bike would be tied down in the truck's bed instead.

Don't listen to the rest of these people they are insane. You should never haul a bike its why it has two wheels, drive it. lol Jk Unless you look back and see someone has stolen your bike by hauling it with their front windshield you should be fine, ie more straps are a good thing.

I have one and used it to bring my 2009 ninja 250 from arizona to california (14 hour drive) then dropped it off and brought my 2006 daytona 675 all the way back. The other day i helped bring my friends 2008 cbr1000rr to a shop with no problems. just make sure you use the stabilizer like what was said earlier and to use heavy duty straps to tighten down the triple tree, sub-frame, and rear tire. make sure to compress both front forks and rear shock as much as possible to prevent bouncing. it will hold just fine. btw suv/truck hitches typically can hold 1,000lb-9,000lb loads. it all depends on the max weight your motorcycle hitch can hold. mine holds 500lbs.
