Any1 experience goose attacks while riding?

Today my good friend dropped his GSXR, and got hurt trying to avoid a few flying geese that he says were flying right at him!

Last summer I had a similar scare when some geese walking nearby came after me as I was slowly riding by, and had to speed up to get away from them.

I know this probably sounds funny, but I am being serious. The geese around here are pretty large, and I am left wondering what would be the safest way to handle flying geese aiming for your head/body while riding.

It happened in a place where it is not possible to gun the engine to get away. (side road approaching a busy 4 lane road).

Anyone have any thoughts on the best way to handle/protect themselves in this situation?

I was on the highway doing about 70 and was extremely surprised to see a bird swoop directly toward me. At first I motioned to dodge him since he definitely would've hit me in my head, then I changed my mind and decided to slap him away. But just before any of that happened and just before contact the bird flew away. Rarely do I see birds on the interstate so it was really weird for that to happen.
A goose is much larger than the bird I had swoop at me, only thing I could think of is to move them out of the way with force or dodge them. Or try tucking in and hitting them which may not be a good option

There are some Canadian Geese that live in my neighborhood and they run away when I pull by, so no trouble there. I have had a couple run ins with dogs though.

Thanks for the input all. I have given the matter a lot of thought, and decided a few things: wearing an armored riding jacket and full face helmet(which I have) will provide significant protection in an aerial attack of the goose persuasion. If I can't power away in time: my plan is to brace for impact, pull the clutch, engine kill switch, stop quickly and ring his scrawny neck with my gloved hand. Sounds like a new reason.to wear ATGATT doent it? :-)

Don't let one hit you in the head; They have enough mass to break your neck quite easily.

Yep, can be scary, the only bird strike I've suffered in over 30 years riding was at high speed on a Guzzi, luckily only a pigeon, and bounced off the top part of my lid. No time to react, would not have got away with it if it had been a goose ...

Taken 2 bird strikes to the helmet at about 65 this year. thankfully only little sparrows.

Geese are mean buggers though, couple of my favorite fishing spots have flocks that hang out there and I always have to watch out for getting the Bird
