Gold Brake Calipers???

First of all... Thank you Vince for taking the time to photo-shop a picture for comparison. You are indeed a valued member here.

I'm looking for opinions here people. What do you think about the gold brake calipers with the Green SE?

I have come to know a GREAT Powder-coat source here locally while working on my 650R wheel conversion. I think the gold looks awesome and for $10 a caliper... liking it more.

Looks nice! So do the passenger pegs. Is the source Tripage? If so, how about some LEDs in the passenger pegs?

I talked to owner of the PC business (Pro-Tec). He said he is willing to do shipping if needed. Send them to him, pay via credit card or PayPal and then ship them back. Anyone interested? Might could get a group discount if we can gather up some. I'll be doing mine prolly in the next few days but I'd be willing to coordinate something for those interested.

lux: I might would if I had them but I've already removed my passenger pegs.

Nope.
1) Gold accents are for black bikes
2) You can't even see the rear caliper
3) Making the caliper stand out only showcases how dinky it is
4) Sure it's 'only' $10, but you have to disassemble the caliper, bleed the brakes, etc.
5) How about green?

Taking the calipers apart is simple and I have a one man bleeder so thats simple too. Keep in mind I have Area P exhaust and I think the rear caliper is seen more with it. Also, the bike has alot of green already. I think green would be too much. Thanks for the input though.

LOL damnit Jason you're making me consider spending money....

Although $10/caliper is tempting, my gixxer has big, honking 6-pots and there's two of them...and rebuilding those calls for a lot of seals. I'll have to look into it as other aspects of my bike need attention (read: my big butt blew out my rear suspension haha).

Glad to help...

Suspension is prolly a better choice at this time though. Add the calipers to the mod list though!

how well does powdercoat stand up to heat? Calipers can get really hot.

I think the gold/green works well together.

how about gold wheel centers/spokes to go along with that?

Calipers are in and the business owner says the PC should be good up to 700 degrees. From what little I could find on the web, calipers may reach temps up to 450 degrees. Should be good to go! I guess the pads and rotors deal with the majority of the heat.

Well the calipers are back...

Hopefully I'll get them back on this weekend. Install pictures may have to wait till I get my rear wheel project done.

At only $10 a caliper I think that is well worth the investment. You would spend more time and money trying to do it yourself.

I would like to see a Photoshop of my red bike with gold calipers and the black center piece of the front/rear disk in gold too. I already have a steering damper gold and it looks good, and I wasn't a fan before of that combination. If I can see a Photoshop I might ended up doing this mod.

i'm guessing this gold calipers is a guy thing, cuz the difference is so minimal, I wouldn't do it...unless it adds some more braking power or something.
