Chain/sprocket replacement question (I forgot)

At 26K miles, I need to replace my chain.... again. This will be my 3rd. I replaced it myself last time with no issues, but there is one thing I forgot, and want to double-check before ordering a new chain. I am running a 15T counter-sprocket... do I still use the 106 link chain? I'm pretty sure there is enough adjustment to go with the 106 link, 95% sure actually, but with my luck lately, I need to be sure.

BTW: The only part of the chain that has rust on it, is the master [clip] link. Theoretically, only the master link is bad, but I'm thinking since the chain is kind of important, I should play it safe. Also, I never replaced the sprockets last time, and wear still isn't obvious to me... do I REALLY need to replace both sprockets?

You do not need a different length chain due to a 15-tooth in front instead of a 14-tooth. The advice to change both sprockets whenever replacing the chain, is due to the new chain wearing much more quickly on the worn sprockets. If the sprockets truly aren't worn at all and look/work as new, then there is no safety reason that would require new ones. But at 26k miles, I'd be darned sure to compare them against newish ones to make sure that they do look good. If they are worn at all, I'd replace 'em.

You could count the number of links currently on the bike?

Also, when was the first time you changed your chain/sprockets, I am about 10k and not sure whether I should change them or not.

Because Alex already told me

I replaced it the first time at 15K due to rust.
