2014 Honda CRF250L added to the stable...
A few months back I bought an 07 Lifan 200cc P.O.S. I bought her as a dedicated dirt bike but grew to love the idea of being able to ride to the dirt on it. The Lifan did its job well and after a few dual sport adventures (riding to work then into the forest service roads of North GA) I decided this was something I truly enjoyed doing. I researched dual sport bikes and decided on the Honda CRF250L, fuel injected and less expensive then the Yamaha and Kawasaki...I WAS SOLD!
So here I am, the proud owner of a 2014 Honda CRF250L. I havent named her and pics of her off-roading adventures soon to come PIC CAPTIONS:: -Bike had 0 Miles when I bought her but forgot to take pic until 14 miles later -NO I CANT FLAT FOOT IT! -Last 3 pics are of "Chewy" the 07 Lifan...awesome fun bike especially for the $$$ I paid |

Finally put some miles on mine, and had it in for its 600 mile service yesterday.

Great question. I didn't ask when I picked it up. It feels like it's running smoother, but that could just as easily have been the new oil.

Got 400 mi on mine so far. I love it for the most part. It's easy to ride , great on gas and looks really sharp.
What I don't like so far... -gas tank is way to small. I'm putting gas in it everyday. -seat, man that thing hurts after a while. -it's a dirt bike. That highway was no fun at 70mph. Front end all over the place and your at the mercy of the wind. I rode 1 hr and 15 mins and it sucked. That's all I can complain about. Course I traded a liter bike for mine so that may influence my opinion on the highway. I'll use my ninjette for that. Around town it's great but I'm adding a 13t sprocket on my first service. Just wanna be able to get that front wheel up. Wheelies fine in the dirt as it is now so tree stumps and such aren't too much problem. Oh yea those tires... Mud or wet grass and it's all kinds of fun! |

Today I put over 100 miles on the CRF250L...about 60 on road, 40 off road, and 2up. The little Honda performed beautifully!
PROS: --Fuel Injection! Good throttle response and smooth acceleration. Very handy when on slippery terrain such as lose gravel, sand, water. --OnRoad agility was beyond what I expected. Nimble and quick, not fast, but quick and SUPER nimble. --Digital Gauges which include fuel gauge and large speedometer. Also has clock and trip meters. --MPG in the high 60's CONS: --Seat Sucks! Hard and uncomfortable. --Seat height...I tippy toe. Of course this is more of a personal problem but guess dual sports arent made for peep with short inseams seeing as this is one of lowest seat height bikes. --No RPM gauge. Thought I wouldnt miss it but it feels weird to not have it. --Gas tank tooooo small! I basically love the bike. I could only imagine how perfect a Kawasaki 300 Dual Sport would be!!! |
