1992 zx-11

I recently encountered a 1992 ZX-11 for sale... It belongs to a friend of a good friend. The guy's trying to sell it because he doesn't ride anymore (not sure why exactly). I'd never seen one before but it definitely bears a resemblence to my pre-gen and the fact that they are both black made them look even more similar. The ZX is obviously a much bigger bike though. It was almost like what a pre-gen 250 would look like if it grew up and got a little porky. Cosmetically the bike is in excellent shape - it looked almost new. Mechanically... well he's had it sitting (garaged at least) for a year without proper prep and of course it does not start. I forget the mileage but I don't remember being shocked by it being either very high or very low. He says he always kept it well-maintained and has the records. He is looking to get "under two grand" for it. Assuming there are no major engine problems, what a deal for somebody who could actually ride one of these beasts and doesn't mind the dated look. In it's time, it was one of the fastest bikes made and even now it is still a crazy powerful bike. Sadly - I say "sadly" because the temptation is there - this is not a bike for me. I think I could handle the extra weight because I've ridden heavier bikes years ago but that much power is another story. I'd rather have fun on my 250 than be scared all the time. I just wanted to share this with all you ninjette owners who may have flirted with big bikes in the past!

No. It's a 20 year old bike that wasn't known for much other than fast in a straight line even back then when new. That same $2K could be spent on bikes much more capable and less likely to have age-related problems.
