Radar detector + RAM reservoir mount
I got tired of suction cups not holding on in hot weather, so I got the RAM reservoir mount, plus the magnetic plate, and voila....
I now have a mount for my radar detector that I can adjust the position to whatever fits my needs.

I live in a metro area where depending on where you are, the cops either use exclusively laser or exclusively radar.

Hehe.
That would be the Austin police department. They use laser, while all the suburbs use Ka-band radar. I know down south in San Antonio they pretty much use laser exclusively.

I was going to stay out of this, but ..... Anyway, if you believe a "laser jammer" will work, you might be interested in investing in my "snake oil" venture.
I did notice that you have an "Escort Radar Detector". Since Mike Valentine designed the "original" Escort Radar detector for Cincinnati Microwave, prior to designing the "Valentine One" Radar/Lasar detector, he was asked a few years ago if LIDAR (Laser Radar) could be defeated, i.e. jammed. When he said YES, he was then asked how one would go about doing that. Bottom line....don't waste your money on a jammer, rather build your own. So, what do you need for this DIY? Only a few items, but mostly lots of bright lights mounted on the front of your bike! Valentine demonstrated his homemade unit at a local test facility. The LIDAR unit detected speeding vehicles on a flat road at roughly one mile from the unit! After mounting multiple (read as lots of lights! ) after market lights on the auto and turning all the lights on and making another test run, the results were much better. The LIDAR did not detect the vehicle at one mile, 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile or 100 feet or anywhere in between. The vehicle put out so many light waves, that LIDAR could not differentiate it's own light beam! Any interest in my "snake oil" venture? |

Seriously, though.... if you want to tell me that I'm an idiot for trying to put on countermeasures, feel free to do so.

hmmmm wouldn't you then just get ticketed for obnoxiously bright light overkill for oncoming traffic?

That test is dated as well, and used the first-gen lidar units. With the tech on them now, those same bright lights, and/or additional infrared, don't have nearly as much of an effect.

Many years ago, I paid for radar absorbing material, ala the stealth bomber technology, which was tied on the front of my vehicle! |

I do admit, the radar stealth coatings look good in terms of advertisement, but the problem is that materials have to be used based on the frequency of the radar used. I can't cover all the bands used with just one material. Yeah, I'm not up to paying the "improper equipment" fine.
