Clutch cover question

So the gasket on my clutch cover is leaking due to a bad oil change on my part.

I don't have mechanics tools or bike stands anymore (long story), so I had to go to a friend's house that is a mechanic late last night. We didn't take apart the clutch cover but we were able to see that the oil leak was coming from there. It looks like the dealership (or factory) already applied some silicone sealant to the area where the leak was coming from, so he sealed it again and drained the excess oil. I didn't have the Service Manual with me so we didn't know if there was an actual o-ring type gasket, or if its a silicone gasket and didn't want to take it apart. It's not leaking anymore, but I don't like patch jobs and I want it fixed correctly.

I looked at the Service Manual and it says it's a silicone gasket sealant (scrape off old and apply new) but I look at the Kawi parts diagram and it shows an actual gasket. I don't want to drain the oil to open it up to find out what is in there. So... which one is it, or is it both?

if it's not leaking, I'd leave it as is.

Alright, patch job it is then. I'll be back if it starts leaking again

yes, that was going to be my next suggestion... that if it started to leak again, you would be forced to deal with it then, so why bother with it now.

enjoy the bike.
