Front Fender - Metal Bracket Removal
Hi - Need help in removing the metal bracket under the front fender...
So I am trying to remove the whole front fender and have it replaced because I cracked it in my previous crash..I also bent the metal brace so that needs to be fixed or replaced as well.. I successfully removed the front fender...now the back part of the metal brace is what keeps the front brake and odometer cables in place... Does anyone how I should remove any of the cables before I could remove the metal bracket? I don't really want to mess with the cables but if anyone could help me figure this out I'd appreciate it... I'll posst pictures as soon as I can so its easier to understand what my dilemma is.. |

IIRC, one will be the speedo cable (left) & the other the front brake line (right).
The speedo cable is easy, it spins off at the speedo drive, it should look almost like a knurled barrel adjuster, turn it CCW, use some pliers or channel locks to break it loose if it's stubborn & it should spin off the rest of the way with your fingers. The brake line.....I believe you'll have to spread that side open a little bit to slid the brake line out. As far as the removal of the support goes, I'm not 100% sure you can do it without tweaking it some unless you remove the wheel and slide it out of the bottom. To get that done without too much hassle, simply flip the bike upside-down, BMX bike style.....I keed, I keed! Seriously, I don't know if it will go in/out without tweaking it some. I put it in with the wheel in place, & mine seems fine at this point. |

@Shon: your bike must be really light to be able to just flip it around upside down~ O.o
as for that bracket; i have removed the metal bracket on my bike, its a pita... and yep, did it because i fell, lol there are two really annoying closed loops that hold all the cables together~ i was half tempted to cut it, but then i didnt have a tool to cut it, so i had to open each cable, etc. you need to remove the fuel tank, so that you can unclip the cable that leads to the ignition key. then there are the throttle cables, some other wires, that go to the handlebar controlls, etc. all come out easily once you remove the tank, or detach at the handlebars. hope that helps
