Full throttle kills bike, throttle lag response.
Since a picture is worth 1000 words I think this video will be all the words I need to say.
It's a 2012 Ninja 250 with 440 miles. Long story short; just bought bike, might need maintenance I'm not sure. Throttle has lag, I can only use it slowly. If I try quick revs and do full throttle while idling bike will drown and die. Throttle feels laggy even going slowly. Same as video. What maintenance will be required for this new of a bike? I know at 500 miles I need oil and whatnot. Maybe I should drain the gas tank put new gas in? Btw this is maybe 5-10 mins into warming up the bike. If I wait 15-20 it rides completely normal. (Local temp was 40-45 degrees when I tried) does it really take that long naturally to warm up? Most people say I should be good after 5-10 mins at most. Also it must have at least 1/4th of choke to turn on. Thanks in advance! |

These bikes hate the cold. Fresh gas and a carb cleaning. 2012 with 440 miles sounds like it sat. Carbs are gummed up.

Have you taken it for a ride yet? Sometimes all it needs is a decent 30+ minute ride using various throttle openings and revs. Just sitting and idling doesn't do it any good. Revving it with no load isn't a great help either.

Thx for the tip, the carburetor cleaning could be another option. I'll try the ride I just drove it around the street but maybe 10 minutes.

Fresh gas wouldn't be a terrible idea either.

I had this same question not too long ago. I experience this when I take the bike out of storage or it sits for a month or so. After a long warm up and a good ride, the carbs clean themselves. Then I try not to let it sit soo long next time.
Also before winter storage I run stabil. That helped a lot too

Had this same problem. Most likely the jets are clogged. Like everyone else said, cleaning the carb works best to fix the issue. There's Youtube vidoes on how to do it. If that sounds too complicated, you can also pour some seafoam into the gas tank and then ride it around. After that let it sit for a night then test again. Either way, empty out the gas and put new gas in.
