Chain adjustment without a center stand
I bought my Ninjette without a center stand. I don't want to mess with lifting the bike everytime I check or adjust the chain slack. I've been keeping the chain slack 35-45mm and adjust it to 35-40mm when needed, as called for, except I'm using the side stand rather than my missing center stand.
I know this is different because the rear suspension is partially compressed and the swing arm is higher in relation to the frame than it would be if the bike were on a center stand. What I'd love to know is how big this difference is. What is your chain slack as measured on the side stand when your bike is properly adjusted according to the slack on the side stand? For instance if one person told me their slack on the sidestand is 33mm when it's 36mm on the center stand and someone else told me their sidestand slack is 40mm when their center stand slack is 44mm, then I'd just keep my chain slack between 32mm and 41mm when measured on the sidestand. How do others with a Muzzy exhaust or without a center stand adjust their chain slack? If you have a center stand, can you share what your chain slack is measured on the sidestand and measured on the center stand? |
